In the planning stages of a week-long houseboat trip sometime next year and looking for the best place to do it. There are some criteria.....

1: Has to be within reasonable driving distance of Omaha NE (meaning I don't want to have to drive 1K miles to get there)
2: Great water - possibly being able to find our own little cove/slice of heaven to spend the week in
3: Reasonable boat rentals enough to fit 10

Right now we're thinking Tablerock, Lake of the Ozarks, Bul Schoals (probably spelled that wrong), and of course Powell is on the plate, but pushed to the side due to distance to get there.

We'd be taking 2 boats along if that changes anything.

Thanks!

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to be able to wakeboard sun up to sun down on flat water, go to Bull Shoals (google team nautique's houseboat trip with Murray also viewable in ReWritten and an episode of Pull). If you want to ride at sun up and again at sun down with chop in between but numerous off water activities, go to Lake Ozark. Table Rock falls somewhere in the middle but more towards wakeboarding.

Less shore development along Bull Shoals, better chances for finding a cove like you describe, but about nothing else to do off the water.

With Table Rock, Branson offers amusements beyond the water only. But you'd probably want your houseboat on the middle third of the lake. You could rent out of Kimberling City, and I'd explore every where from up the James River arm to across the lake and way back in the arms on the south side, one of which contains Baxter park.

Bull Shoals all the way. Can't beat it. If you need someone else to tag along I will volunteer no charge.

Bull Shoals it is.....Should be a pretty sick week. We're not big on things to do off the water, just lake rats. Currently looking at 2 50' boats - should be a good time!

Mark....that is a possibility depending on who all is going....I'll let you know if there's any openings...you just have to bring your ride...that thing looks SICK!
