I have a 02 Larson 18.5ft with 190HP Volvo Penta engine. I am puting about a 1000lbs of weight in it and think I should get a new prop. I currently have a 3 blade 21 pitch on it. I have heard that the 4 blade props work well for wakeboarding. If anyone has info on what I should go with for a prop meaning pitch, 3 or 4 blade ect.. any insight would be great.

Andy,
I had a 3 blade SS prop (21 pitch) on my outboard and went to a 4 blade SS 19 pitch and i love it. The 4 blade gives better pull out of the hole and in corners. I added 1100 lbs of ballast and you don't even notice it with the 4 blade. I got mine from Overton's for $299 and I am glad I did.

Chris,
What kind of prop did you get? All of the ones I looked at in overton's were sold in even numbers for pitch. I have heard that the 4 blades help for holding speed is that true?

I have an 18" I/O 190 hp and 700+300 lbs ballast. I was planning on a four blade this spring but this thread got me thinking.

Have a read

Yep, that is true. The main thing I noticed was the hole shot though. I got the Stiletto 4 blade. You can also call Bart's Watersport and talk to them about it. Overton's was $399, but they honored Bart's price plus 10% and gave it to me for less than Bart's. I am pretty sure I got the 19 pitch, but it may have been a 20. I did drop the pitch a little though.

Chris,
Just doing my best to keep everyone confused.

I plan to get a four blade for sure! I'll have to as I expand the ballast. I'm sturggling on the order of the upgrades right now.

I have a 5blade stainless 19p, don't waiste your money on the plastic 4 blade for like $89. It will not hold speed! (a friend just bought one) spend the money for a SS prop no more than a 19 pitch, you'll be impressed....even on a outboard bass boat, the speed is steady.....
