A&M is the texas farming university. It is know for a few things, Minion Corp members, worshiping a Collie, and dumb people.

Case in point:

I know a guy from UT and it's non-stop Aggie bashing, and from that store picture it totally makes sense now.

Wow, thanks for not over-generalizing, Rich. Don't confuse the Corp with the rest of us. I'll admit, I've run across my share of stereotypical "good ol' boy" Aggies, but they are no where near the majority. College Station is no different than any other college town these days.

Actually, some jackass was running around stealing plywood at night, so more than a few stores put the wood on the inside, risking shattering, but keeping everything out of the store.

I call BS on that version Jeff.....according to snopes

"Our assumption proved to be correct (i.e., the store's windows could not support exterior-mounted plywood, so the boards were placed inside to protect the shop floor from glass shards), as the project director at Loupot's informed us:
Our windows will not support the weight of plywood screwed into their frames — neither is there sufficient masonry wall surrounding them for an attachment — therefore our contractor a "good Ag" suggested saving the store from a major cleanup and letting the glass go — it wasn't a difficult decision to make!"
Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       07-12-2006, 5:16 AM Reply
either way, it was a conscious (and correct) decision to put the plywood on the inside in this particular store

lake powell must get pretty nasty

I know that lake Texhoma can get rough!
I've had swells come up over the windshield

I fell some comfort in having 5 1000 gallon per hour drain pumps on my custom ballast system...and a knife in the glovebox

reckon I would be cuttin hoses and letting the drain pumps save the boat....that would be ironic wouldn't it?

Don't want to start a flame thing here, but I did notice that some of those boats stayed at the surface after being swamped, and some did not. Mayby that advertising is not total BS.

I was at Lake of the Ozarks in 94 and watched a guy in a Scarab (older, looked like Miami Vice but red and blue) run it on shore at night. watched is thw rong word, heard. We saw it the next day, there was at least 40 feet from the shore to the back of the boat.

Jeff,

Dude you need to learn to take a joke. Aggie jokes have been around long before you and they will continue long after you. You nor the other 30,000 current Aggie students will change that, despite you dramatic efforts to justify every move.

I am sure there was a legitimate reason for the plywood, but we don't care, it looks funny, Aggies are stupid, ha ha good joke.

You made a conscious decision to go there, so either learn to roll with the punches or go to school somewhere else. BTW, UT has a great ski team with some free boats from MC and private lakes.

Night time is more dangerous than we think. A few years ago I was ripping up the river (32mph) in my sweet 70 Tri-Hull at 4am. This was a water-way that I was extremely familiar with and I had about 1000 hours of boat driving experience at this point. I scan in front of the boat from right to left. Then I swing my head around to the back of the boat where my buddy was playing guitar and the ladies were sipping margaritas. The moment I looked back, we hear this loud bang and the boat ricochets left. One of the girls fell to the floor I almost fell, my muddy got knocked down into a seat. It was a pretty hard hit. So I pulled off the throttle and inspect the floor to see if we were taking-on water and see if I need to maintain speed to keep it from taking on water. Once I observe we seem to be relatively ok I pull the spot light out to see what I had hit. Hoping it was not another boat I found a steel/concrete navigation buoy about 3.5 feet tall and 3.5 feet in diameter. This was a temporary buoy that they brought in for a Hydroplane race event that weekend. Fortunately, we skimmed the side and strangely with out any damage. Had that been a few feet to the left and we would have centered right over the top of it and possibly sunk with all the life jackets stowed and a tad bit of intoxication.

The reality of my liability exposure sat in rather quickly. Now while driving at night, I'm like a hawk, I watch forward and I don't blink. I missed this thing when it was 30 feet in front of the boat with plenty of experience -- it's easy to do.

so, what do you do when your in the middle with swells that big? Cant stay on plane, but do you try to stick the nose up as high as it will go, or will that just flood the engine with water?

Joe, I'm not even from Texas and it was a coin flip between A&M and UT, so Aggie JOKES don't bother me, generalizations and stereotypes--no matter the target--do. The picture is no big deal; I laughed the first time I saw it. Being called a dumb redneck because of A&M's agricultural history does get a little old though. Like I said, I've met my share of over-zealous, born-and-bred Aggies, so I understand the jokes (I've told more than a few myself), but there's a pretty big difference between an "an Aggie went to a bar" or "a doped-up Longhorn" joke and calling the student body (which is closer to 45,000 by the way) brainwashed, stupid farmers.

It had a ZZ4 Chevy in it and would do about 75 MPH.

Hey isn't the Supra pic. from when some teens took a fishing boat out and I think they were intoxicated and hit the Supra in the evening and didn't stop and they found their boat later and I think someone did die and they were charged with intoxication manslaughter. I'm not sure if its the same boat though but a true story.

Jeff I have to side with you on this. Rich as a matter of fact the picture was taking in Austin, Tx. I think UT got off way to easy. If it were a real AG the truck would have had at least 3 more stickers on the back window. We can handle all the jokes until we are out of school. Then the joke is on you when we make you work weekends. Everyone knows the only thing you call an Aggie grad is BOSS.

The one picture of the jet boat with the pink nose on it used to be my boat (dated 5-17-03) I sold it to a buddy of mine and first he blew up the jet and then he let his girlfriend drive it. He forgot to turn the bilge on and like a typical jet boat on decel. it gulped water and sank like a brick. The irony is he marked it with that bumper and it was a few days before it could be salvaged. When he went back to get the boat it was gone. They cruised the sloughs for awhile until they ran across some guy dragging it into the tullees (sp). My buddy was so pissed he was ready to pummel the guy. After all that the guy who was trying to steal the boat was trying to hit him up for a finders fee. Some nerve. He almost spent the rest of the afternoon trying to find his teeth.

Crazy, how hot does a fire have to be to melt aluminum? Didn't think that was possible with a fuel/fiberglass fire. Wrong again dammit. Hope the tube in the foreground wasn't his LOL

Aluminum melts around 1400 degrees. To put that in perspective, my diesel truck Exhaust (at the manifold, not the tip) can get way over 1400 if I am not being careful.

This is from a friend (I am just pasting in this text so i can't answer questions):

Friend of mine took his parents boat to rocking the docks (local barge
party in Knoxville TN) and couldn't drive it home 17 miles in the dark after drinking.

Luckily no one got seriously hurt. The rip rap luckily worked as a ramp and not a brick wall and notice the tree close by.

Not Good! How would you like explaining this one to your mom and step dad!!!!Upload

My contribution. The Burned Sanger was fairly new and the Tahoe next to it was two weeks old. They lost pretty much everything, and the fire was caused by a Dewalt battery charger that was under recall for causing fires.

True-Trac need I say more? Wonder why the steerable skeg didn't catch on, seems like one of those cool concepts that just didn't work out.

If it was a Tige it would have completely sunk to the bottom, like the guy in Greece or where ever that happened.

We were leaving the dock and it was tied up there, so having a camera close as usual, I grabbed a few pics.

3 blades used to be very common on comp boats as they are better for top end speed, and stainless has very little flex.

Sorry, but it was a 21' Centurion on the bottom, not a Tige. I took the picture. It was on the Columbia River near the Gorge.

If that is the case you really need to get your facts straight. If I am wrong I appologize. I just do not appreciate people taking credit for things others have done. The photo above was taken with my Olympus E-100RS on 7-06-2002, at the Sacramento Delta. Check the photo data and you will see.
