Hey guys--shipping question. I am selling my old bimini and extended pylon on this and other sites. I am in Phoenix and I have several interested buyers on the east coast. But when I asked the UPS store for a quote on shipping, they said that because of its size--even though it only weighs about 12 lbs--it must be shipped freight for $200-$300. Does anyone know of a cheap alternative for shipping a bimini? Thanks.

If the bows can be broken down in half then find a box for a bike or something and pack it yourself. Then take it to UPS or an Office Depot and ship it yourself. The UPS Stores charge more than going to a main UPS office. Shouldn't be more than $40 or so to ship.

The ups store you went to gave you bad information. My in-laws own a store in CA and have shipped an old bimini I sold for about $50...they used a bicycle box or a picture frame box to do so.
