I can relate, my WS420 is a little over 3 years old and the mic cable has split due to the rubber drying out.

After I replace the cable I'm going to try to remember to use a little vinyl conditioner/UV protector on it.

Same issue here too.. Mic is patchy on working. Not sure whats going on. WS420 is about 3 years old too. Did anybody find one from radio shack that works? I called Wetsounds late last year but they were out of stock at that time. Justin said they should be getting them in soon. I know that time has passed now. Forgot about it until I saw this thread.

So, I am debating putting the WS-420 on my boat to be able to control the tower speakers independent from the cabin, and to use the mic to help instruct riders. Has the PA system been effective with this?

You could always just call up Wet Sounds and order a new one for 29.99. Plain and simple, don't have to hunt one down and be done. 877-938-7757

Yes. If they can hear your tower speakers clearly at riding length then they will be able to hear your instructions.... get one

The 420 is the best part of my system.. so nice to be able to talk to or instruct the rider without having to yell and scream back to them... definitely worth the money
