All the Marley family, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Sizzla, Resination, Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru, Barrington Levi, Ijahman Levi, Halfpint, the list goes on and on.... As you can see I prefer the old school roots reggae. If you want to get turned on to some new stuff, create a Pandora station and let the good tunes flow.

Bob Slightly Stoopid not a huge reggae guy, but a lot of people who like it like Citizen Cope, super mellow rap/reggae. My roomies all listen to a lot of reggae and then jam band type stuff, OAR, String Cheese, Keller.

My friend and coowner of our boat always listens to reggae on the boat. It's not bad but the only downside is he listens to one playlist with about twenty songs all year round. Some songs give me the creeps by now.

anthony b, jah mason, barrington, chuck fenda, eek a mouse, fredlocks, lutan fyah, alborosie, buju banton, buru banton, dillinger, 10 foot ganja plant. i love the dancehall but you have to filter through alot of filler to get the good stuff. for roots : abyssinians, burning spear, scratch, pablo moses, rankin dread, yabby you, LKJ. theres alot of good podcasts out there on podomatic.com. KHSU jamdown, and reggae revival give you a solid 2 hour show every week with dancehall and roots. theres also some good foreign podcasts- zona reggae, jah no dead, ambassada, BMC, programa reggae flow. full time 420 rider here.

Jason, I was just listening to Beanie Man. Not my favorite, but good. Add Gregory Isaacs. For some reason my little college town gets lots of good reggae coming through. In the last year I have seen Patu Banton, Black Uhuru, Stephen Marley, Pepper, Expendables and a few others. I will recommend seeing Damian if you get the chance, kid straight kills it!! Rebelution was a fun show, like their albums more than their live show. Their bassist was hilarious, a huge white dude without shoes and just dancing like a crazy man, good stuff.

Help some one out who knows very little. Can you take the ones mentioned that are and make a list. I used to listen to Reggae years ago, but kinda got away from it. Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh, and Marley are the ones I remember, but would like to get back into it. I like dancehall and roots style. Who is the best dancehall?
