I am wondering if it is smarter to send a video or resume or whatever to a company to ask to sponsor you or if it is smarter to wait for a company to ask you??

i want to know what is the smartest thing to do. please give me your opinion.

Thanks

sending a video with a resume attached is the best way to get sponsored. your resume should not consist of "i can do this trick that trick this trick" but instead of how you can help promote their company and what your plans are for the season. the video will show them what tricks you can do. all they are looking for are good representatives that don't have to have "pro" skills, but will represent them the way they feel will best promote their product.

Include your GPA and other sports you are involved in.

Actually go to the Jet Pilot website, they have a great description of what you need to do. This time of year most companies rider budget is set, so don’t be discouraged if you get a lot of, "thanks for your interest we will keep you in mind for next season," responses. You best bet this time of year might be a shop sponsor and a rep sponsor.

Here is the Jet Piolet link.

Good luck, hit me up if you ever need any help with this.

the best way is to ride the local tourneys and let your riding speak for you. create relationships with company reps. talk to them. hang out with them. then they will be asking you when you will ride for them rather than you doing the talking. it feels better to achive something that way.

Brett, I know I sound like an @$$ (even to myself) as I write this, but I can't let you rib someone without giving a little back...as you misspelled 'mispelled'

In a similiar sport I did the resume thing. Worked out too! it was for Alpine Ski racing. I was 14 and sent out a letter to Reps/Shops/Companies and it worked out. I am sure that you would be able to at least get hooked up with some pro forms this year and who knows from there!

My "resume" had a bunch of stuff on how if I was associated with "your" brand I could promote it this way... I compete in X,Y,Z. and so on. It never hurts to just send it!

yeah i did a similar thing..resume plus video and picked up a sponsorship from double up for their last two years of existence. You basically have to send in a video, that is the key
