My DIY Trailer/Boat Guard

I had been looking on the internet for my options on trailer guards that mount on your hitch and most were about $ 300 and up. So after a little brain storming I figured out how I could do it. All said and done it cost me about $ 140.00 CAN to make it. I could have done it a bit cheaper but I used aluminum instead of steel. They aren't the prettiest of things but they do protect the boat.

All Parts:

6' Aluminum Angle Bar from Home Depot
2 -3' Aluminum Flat Bar
4- Mud Flaps
Nuts/bolts/Washers/lock washers
1- 2 inch wide/ 3 inch high Square U bolt

Nice work Dave. Does the U bolt go around the receiver or the ball mount? Looks like the ball mount from the pics...

I made the same thing two years ago. I wish I would have gone a touch wider, and higher. That gap between the flap and the bumper is not good. I still get gravel in my boat sometimes. Just small stuff, but I know it is coming between the flap and bumper.

I found the rock guard on one of the RV websites
It was 69.00 plus shipping I bought 1" steel square tube and attached it to the hitch with angle and stainless bolts.All total I have about $100 in it. I'm glad to see someone else as anal as me about rock chips.
