My boat repair guy was over recently and said my exhaust flaps are starting to get kind of turned out. He initially said I should buy new ones but then said that I might be able to just turn them around. Has anyone done this and if so, is it a good idea?

BTW, if it matters, I have a Wakesetter. Thanks

What is wrong with them being turned out?

Not really a big deal, the water pushes them shut. But it's only a couple of screws if you did want to turn 'em around.

Yea, I don't think it's an issue yet.

I think the majority of people's are "turned out" like yours.

As long as they are there, and not cracked/worn looking, you are fine. I would be worried about this boat repair guy based on these opinions.

The whole purpose is to keep water from getting forced into the exhaust while in reverse. The way they look now, they will still serve this function. Truthfully, in my opinion, i feel like they would look closed brieflyafter flipping them, and then wear out quicker than if you hadn't. Leave them, and spend your time elsewhere.
