I have a small cut (1cm) on the edge of my engine cover and I would like to try to prevent it from getting any bigger as it is in a high traffic area... Its not very deep or big...

How well do the Dr. Vinyl repair places work? What would that run?

I got it by putting my fat sacs back in the boat while standing on the ground, the end of the "metal ball chain" that holds the quick connect cap apparently hit it exactly right... With that and a few other things, it was quite a frustrating weekend with the boat :-(

If you don't care about how it looks, you can just use superglue to bond it back together.

yeah, since my boat is less than a year old, i'd rather do it right and clean, but worst case I will do that carefully

There are some kits that glue the vinyl back together and then have some different color dies to match color the glue of the glue to the vinyl.

I've seen some pretty impressive results with guys that come to you and work out of their truck. I watched a guy repair a leather seat bolster on a Tahoe I was thinking about buying. He made the seat look like brand new again. How long it will last is a completely different issue. If it were me, (and I am very picky) I'd go the superglue route to just try and keep it from getting worse. You might even be able to make it look pretty good. If it starts to get worse, try the vinyl repair guy. Now that said, the guy that reuphostered my boat did this type of work too and he told me that it doesn't hold up very well. He has quit doing it because of this.

Hope this helps,

Jman

Dr Vinyl works really well. I have used our local franchise 3 times on 3 different boats. Happy each time.

Call WSBD and tell them they screwed up your vinyl. Oh, and delete this thread.

I wish I could blame it on them, but this was all my fault, although I still have some stains on my seats from their trees... back bench is currently soaking in the sun...

I had wondered if I can fix it from the underside since it's sorta on the edge, glue and gorilla tape it, but kinda weary of pulling out the staples and screwing it up even more to get behind it.
