I have always been overkill and changed the oil every 3000 miles

Ford has always told me 5000 miles

The other day, I had a Ford Tech tell me to change it every 200 hours

I now have 100 hours since last change and have 4000 miles. That would be 8000 miles at the 200 hour mark.

I use synthetic oil

what do yall think?

3000 is way beyond overkill with synthetic-its bayoneting the dead. You must be taking the lube centers recommendation. I would be at a minimum 7500 with synthetic with heavy dusty usage?

Way overkill if you're changing syn @ 3k. Either leave it in for 7500 or if you dont like leaving ANY oil in that long, (like me) just run a good grade conventional and change every 2 to 3k depending how bad you work it. This is how I service my Cummins.

I change my 05 powerstroke every 5000 with 15w40 rotella but hours is how they recommend changing diesels that idle alot. You shouldn't let your powerstroke idle alot because it will carbon up the EGR valve.
