I made my first boat purchase last week when my 2012 MB F21 Tomcat arrived at MB Boats of Texas/Texas Mastercraft. I only tested it on the water at the private lake at the dealership since I had a trip already planned for Memorial Day Weekend, but will get on the water pics this weekend.

Thank you to Jimmy, Brian, Craig, Michael, Todd, and Justin for all of the help with ordering and delivery of the boat. Can't wait to get this boat out on the water this weekend after the PWT rolls through town!

Thanks guys! I'll get some wake pics this weekend and post them up. I'm going to start with just stock ballast and see where I need to go from there. Sounds like a couple hundred pounds of lead or water up front helps. I think the black, white, lime, and silver flake turned out really good, and Boatmate made an awesome trailer!

Take a quick set with just stock ballast and you will love it. Then bring a sack or something (about 400 lbs.) and put it up front and be ready to be amazed. I can't believe the difference it makes. No matter what the first thing I do is fill the front sack when it's session time.
Great looking boat and trailer... Going big in TX as usual.

Then put a 750 in the center and a little lead here and there. Don't be afraid of it, my 14 & 17 year old girls charge it! Wake will get huge. When I used to run the same line as an Axis with 5K in it, it looked like we were trying to sink each other when one boat was stopped to pick up a fallen rider.

Only added that last line so I could show that MB threads get other boat manufacturer names posted up too. :0)

Nice setup! I bet that will turn lots of heads towing and on the water.

Love it...!! can I ask if that back step has SeaDek on it? (new toy thread is mine) and wondering if you have traction around where the gas is?

another sic MB, all the haters hate-it.com. Congratulations! She is one sweet ride. Love the green. You will love this boat!

I'm going to have to check in person, but I don't think there is any traction on the back step around the gas tank on my boat.

Thats basically the same color combo I submitted for the contest that Craig had on here several weeks ago. Me like.

I saw this boat on Craig's desk when we talked about the contest boat. Sweet setup where are those wake pics?

my buddy just picked one up as well. How are you guys weighting these bad boys? I rode with the stock ballast and was very impressed. I have two 400lb bags and a 750. I'm just guessing it's like most boats and loves nose wieght...

andrew, boat colors look sick. I love that green, just enough of it too get attention but still looks clean. It reminds me of the late 90's when forum snowboards came out. Peter lines pro model was the same colors.

Bret. Never rode one with just stock ballast and 400 or so in the bow, but I hear that set up is real nice. I am guessing if you threw the 750 in the bow and filled those 400's halfway in each locker, it may be money.

Realized I still haven't put up any wake pics. I'll get some early Saturday morning before the lake is a zoo and put them online with a review after a few weeks of having the boat.

curious what the wake looks like at slower speeds 18,19. I have an 06 B52 and its wont clean up at speeds that slow..... what has your experience been?

I can tell you without the OP's pictures... the wake is not clean < 20mph, even with the ballast empty. I have had two of these boats ('09 TWB & '12 F21).
Old     (seangriswold)      Join Date: Apr 2006       06-21-2012, 9:28 PM Reply
that is disappointing. I was hoping that the wake would still clean up at slower speeds similar to the malibu.

I think that it comes with the territory of a hull that has a deeper v bottom all the way back. The V gives a nice rough water ride and generally really nice surf waves, but also makes the wake steeper (preference), clean at a little bit faster than a flatter bottom, and a little bit more finicky from side to side weight. Gotta take the good with the bad... there was a good picture of a bu and mb at the boat show showing the hull at the transom. it is a good illustration of the differences.

Andrew, how'd your maiden voyage go?

The boat has been great so far. I've only got about 11 hours on it from two days on the water, but I've love it so far. The factory wake is very good for wakeboarding (I don't think my skill level of riding needs much additional wake), but I need to buy a few fat sacks for the surf wake. I'm thinking getting a pair of 750s for the rear compartments and maybe a 400 for the front. The boat drives like a small boat and all the wakeboarding features that I want are there. Sure, there are additional features that are nice to have, but not necessary for a great day out on the water. I'll post wake pics tomorrow.

I feel the same way about my 23TWB, the wakeboard wake is great stock, but it could use some more weight for surfing. The bungees on the racks are a bit of a pain. Other than that I'm really enjoying mine.

Yes, hooking the bungies is a pain. I am looking into a home remedy. If you find one, let me know.

Let me know what you come up with as well.

These look better, but I'm not willing to pay for them.

Yes GD, different boat but I hate my bungees nevertheless. Can someone please make a universal clamping board rack?? Skylon had that air cushion rack for a little bit, never saw one but they are no longer making them, and probably because they did not work well. I have seen a couple different racks but nothing that looks or works anywhere near as well as the MC or Tige racks.

I don't mind the bungee, they just put it in the worst possible spot.

What makes a bungee "marine"?

I have this for my sky ski - I had to have it custom made. I have been toying around with having something similar done to the wakeboard racks - maybe two arms and have one with the clamp. I am talking about having two of the arms on the right.

Stretch and wrap around swivel part instead of standard slots
