If I don't need the extra holeshot anymore will the Acme 537 give me better gas mileage than the OJ 475. I think it will but just want to double check.

Thx

I run the 537 on an older VLX and have no problem getting 3000 total extra weight out of the hole. I also do quit a bit slalom skiing with it and it also works good for that.

I have an 04 and put on the 475 because I did alot of wakesurfing. Im now hydrofoiling so I don't need all the holeshot since I won't be running all that weight. Thinking of switching back to the 537 because I think I'll get better gas mileage but not totally sure,

475 will give better holeshot and less gas consumption in a heavy wakeboat

So if I have a small crew and I'm not using the wedge or any ballast will I get better gas mileage with the 475 or 537. I have an 04 vlx.

I think similar but 537 will have 2-3mph more top end

537 is a decent all around prop, it's what comes standard on Tige's with the 340hp motor. I've run the boat with 800lbs in the locker and 13 people before and not had any problems. It's definitely good on gas. I don't know how it compares to the 475 though.

I've had a 537 on an older VLX with 3k lbs extra for several years also, no complaints. This used to be "the" prop upgrade for the older VLX hulls, until the 1213 or whatever came out. It rarely bumps the rev limiter when unloaded, wakeboard holeshot is fine fully loaded, and will get on plane even fully loaded for surfing + 4-5 people.

I took the standard OEM 537 off my VLX, that prop sucked w/ ballast and wedge. It's a great all around prop, so if you just had people on board no ballast/wedge it'd be fine depending on altitude. It'll give a bit more top end and little bit better fuel economy, but not enough to by a $400 prop.

I prefer the OJ 468, granted it sucks fuel but gives the low end pull and gets on plane quickly.

Just for the record, the 05+ VLX is a longer and wider boat than the 96-04 VLX.

Heavier and more ponies too....

I ride behind/drive a '04 VLX all the time w/ a OJ 475 works great and other that the top end provides a great all around prop for ballast and wedge.
