So I am going to demo a G21 this Saturday with a buddy of mine. He is relatively new to the tow boat scene so I am trying to help him out.

He is mainly interested in surfing so that will be our primary activity. I currently own a 2015 X-30 so that is what he is going to compare the wave to (as apples to oranges as it might be)

I was mainly wondering about the best surf setup in a G21. A friend of mine that owns one and who's opinion I trust has told me that stock ballast is the best setup he has achieved despite trying different configurations. Anyone know any different? If that is true, that will make my life a lot easier.

I will post a review after of course and will comment on handling, fit and finish, stereo etc.

Thanks!

One thing is for sure! Water will suck and dealer won't at all know how to set it up!

But in any event in any demos I've ever done I've brought extra bags if they haven't had them already.

Micah,

Do you own a G21 or commonly surf one?

If you wanna try stock without having to add any. Do rear tanks full, belly half, speed 11.3-11.6 I prefer 11.6 NSS @ 5 and NCRS @ 5. these are the best settings for goofy for the nss/NCRS settings

I have a friend who has owned a g23 and g25. the 25 we put 1100s. so 750s should be good.

we did however only fill non surf side stock 5/8 of the way full.

the 750s should give you the wave you are looking for.

I also just sent a message to 6time world champ Drew Danielo and asked him his set up for his G. I will let you know what he says

Surfed a G21 a bit. We did stock plus 2 400s on the floor in main and then a 350 tube sack in the front. Wish we had more, the difference over stock was pretty drastic. Went from meh (for a 100K+ boat) to pretty damn good. We rode just over 11, cant remember exact settings, but those G21s like more weight than stock to get really fun.

Here is a video from a boys weekend with a G21.

Also - not that you asked, but for wakeboarding, you dont need anything over stock. that wake is the best stock wake I have ever ridden...

So you need extra bags on the floor to surf a G21? Anyway to get that built in?

Jn94.....No you don't. You can surf it all day long stock...both sides. If you WANT it a little bigger...little better...then yes...add some weight.

Bags on the floor? No, not at all they only did this to demo. This boat has probably the largest rear storage lockers of any boat out there! No need for bags anywhere visible.

Looks like he demo'd back at the end of august?

Anyway, i find stock ballast on the G21 to be sufficient. NCRS at 3, 11.1 mph.
I have added weight and it definitely is more fun but not something i do every time (400s in rear, 750 in bow)

NCSR at 2 or 3 and 11.4 mph are my settings on the G21. And i use the locker to store my surfboards. I'm very happy with stock ballast wake.
