Powering Rev10's

Thinking about replacing the four Stock Kicker tower speakers with a pair of Rev10's. Figuring this would be a better setup, hopefully. Wondering what would be a good amp to power them. My current amp is a JL rated 4x70 watts. So the shop recommends a SD4, was also thinking maybe the Syn4. Any thoughts or recommendations, the SD4 seems expensive. Any thoughts?

I bet the shop meant SD-2.

Bare min for one pair would be HT-4 bridge for 300x2. Then SYN-4 for 400x2. Then SD-2 for 400x2 and ability to add a second pair later. So SD-2 is the best If you plan on adding a second pair later. If you think only one pair. HT-4 or SYN-4.

Thanks Tim. The shop was saying I needed the SD6 if I wanted to add another set of speakers later. Assuming they were thinking the 4 channels, 1 for each speaker. They said to bridge the channels for two speakers. More power for little cost difference.

Yes you can do that as well, the SD-6 is a LOT of power 585x3 when bridged. We have some guys that have done two SD-6 on 4 REV 10 with in boats on left over channels.. So you can do a pair of REV 10 and a sub for 585x3. Or it can be 585x2 and 185x2 (290x6 at 2 ohms) So you can do a pair of REV 10 and two pairs of coaxials. If you add another pair of REV 10 later and another SD6, you would use 4 of the bridged channels. So 585x4 between the two amps. Leaving you with 585x2 on two subs. Or leaving ability to drive a sub and two pairs of coaxs or 4 pairs of coaxs as you have 185x4 left.

So yes you can do a lot with a SD6 in terms of flexibility as they have so much power. Just make sure to gain them down with a meter when running them and net about 400 watts or so depending on the tune.

An SD-2 is a perfect amp for 2 pair of Rev-10, but a pair of SD-6 is just off the hook and you get 4 extra chnls to boot.

That's a great amplifier. Dual power supplies. Strictly regulated so it still develops full power as the voltage supply sags.....thus performing like an amplifier rated at more power. Efficient Class D. Extremely high speed switching. However, if there is a reason why you want to stay within the JL Audio amplifier line then a better tower option is the JL Audio HD750/1. More power and less cost.

If I planned to run a single pair then my search would have been over with the Wetsounds Syn4.
Perfect power. Right price. There is no way to screw up bridging with the Syn4.

I ran one pair of rev10's off the hd600/4 last summer and it did very well. The problem was this summer I wanted another set and you can't power two pairs with that amp. I moved the 600/4 to my interior speakers and bought an arc audio 600.2 which you might want to look into. It will power your single pair and leave room for flexibility down the road. Its a bigger amp but is fan cooled and even driven hard haven't felt it get hot.

The SYN 4 is absolutely the way to go for two REV10s! That is the set up I purchased from Odin at Earmark and it sounds amazing.

I run 2 pair of 10's each on a syn 4. Crazy loud.
