I just recently redid my ballast. all fly high sacks, 4 total, one in each v drive locker, the rear seat sack in the ski locker, and the triangle bow sack in the storage area under the playpen open bow, which probably fills1/2 to 3/4, due to space constraints.

I've noticed that the wake doesn't want to stay clean at speeds below 23 mph. not that I mind that speed, but sometimes I like to slow it down to try new tricks.

any suggestions?

PS It's a 96 super sport, not an Air, exactly, but the same hull. and I'm running stargazer.

Thanks in advance.

you want a 60/40 ratio rear / front.more weight up front makes longer ramp more weight in rear makes steeper wake.

Supplement your system with 100-200 pounds of lead in the tip of the nose will make all the difference. If you are going to slow down to try new tricks just empty out the back bags a bit

I agree with Robert & Darren. The old hull likes a lot weight in he front. It sound like a bow sack would normally do it, but you are really slamming the rear. Maybe try the "rear seat sack" in the center just to see what it does. It is possible to put too much weight in, expecially if your not riding in deep waters.

Here is the most my 03 SAN likes without washing out (I also need to drive about 24.5 MPH to get it to form up with this much weight)

Stock wedge tanks- 250 LBS each side for the rear & 350 LBS for center (Stock total= 850 lbs)
Bow- 11 Pop Brand lead bags x 40 LBS= (440 LBS)
Lateral weight- 6 Pop Brand lead bags x 40 LBS= (240 LBS)

Piggy back Fly-High wedge sacks in the rear lockers- 370 LBS each= (740 LBS)

I reduce the weight in my Fly-high bags If I have more than three.

When I had my 01 and 03 SANTE's, we would ride a clean wake with:

Factory rears full
2 x 500lbs Rear hatches
600-700lbs in the locker
800-1000 lb nose sack.

It was a perfect wake IMHO

2500 lbs total in my SAN. Clean down to 22.5.

Careful on taking a roller over the nose. I have taken a good one on my oldschool x star.

I tried that. Id say the v drive's were about 1/2 full, the center was full, and the bow was as full as it gets being confined under the playpen.

maybe try to empty the vdrive's and fill the front and center?

PS. how much lead up front is still safe to trailer???

Thanks for all the help, guys

I leave the 440 LBS of lead in the bow when trailering. I pack it away up in the nose under the front seat. The weight in the nose is mostly on the hitch and tow vehicle suspension anyway. Another benefit is since the weight is so far forward the boats center of gravity (more than you could get with a sack) I can store less weight in front. I have no problem with water over the bow.
