Started building them again in late 2013 or early 14. I believe they are being built in the Larson Plant. There is a dealer here that has them and has had the same ones since he got them..if you catch my drift. They are the same hulls they rode into bankruptcy. Nothing new and way outdated. I had a buddy who bought once of those REV0's in like 2000 and it was the same boat. He had a heck of a time selling it then. No resale on them and no one is buying the new ones. Thats here where they are made! Wouldn't touch one. Better boats for that money.

Come on. You gotta admit, the pictures of the girls are timeless.

Oh god that video is so bad. I kept waiting for a sharknado to pop up, for that guy from 90210 to jump out with a chainsaw, and for a great white to get cut in half.

I'll never get that time back I just wasted watching that video. Boat is horrendous and should be no more than $40k

Pretty cheesy. Like I said above I had a buddy who owned a wakeboard shop get talked into one of these in like 2000 or 2001. He ran it for 1/2 the season and put it up for sale. I know it took him at least 2 years to sell it and he bought it at dealer cost. It was a ugly boat then and its even uglier now. Not sure why you would bring them back. Can't see how they will make it. I will be at the boat show tomorrow and I heard they will be there. I will see what actual pricing is.

One of those boats where they build the fancy swim deck into the transom so they can include it with the length of the boat. Now you think you're buying a 22 foot boat but it's actually only 18.5 feet when compared to a competitor.
Old     (jhartt3)      Join Date: Jan 2012       01-23-2015, 12:47 PM Reply
and it wont fit on my lake b/c i have a 21 foot limit that discounts the swim platform. so integrated platforms become even worse.

You'd think they would have made big changes to the hull considering it didn't sell so well last time they were around. What makes them think they are going to sell cause they added a new tower?

I will be honest with you guys, I think the way boats are being priced today, I really think gekko is going to do OK. It might not be the best wake, but for the average family it will be a great wake.

Doubtful I think. Like Jack said they were not popular when they were designed 15+ years ago. They are the same now and boats have moved light years in that time. There is no comparison between a boat designed in 2000 and the ones today. They were on the low side quality and price wise in the late 90's just like they are now. They didn't sell then I don't know why they would now. There business model was pretty much the same.

Like I said they are made here locally(southern Minnesota) and the dealer that picked them up in the spring has yet to move a boat. Considering the Revo is a 21 foot boat(called a 23 with a molded in platform) for $70K there are tons of better options. That boat sold in the $30's in 2000 and now its $70K??? For the same boat and you think there gonna do OK??? I bet they fold before the produce a 2017 model.

If you like it go buy one up.

I had heard they were supposed to be at our show but they were absent. Atleast we were not able to find them. I really wanted to see what they were trying to get for them.

Who the heck is going to pay 70 k for a boat company that went out of business then is trying to make a comeback? The boat looks like crap along with the wake. Plus, what is up with the ski deck....

I thought some of the previous posts were a little harsh until I watched that video. It really is horrible. Only 3 seconds of footage. The rest is just still photos. And zero footage of any riding/surfing being done. The only clips were of the surf "wake" (more like ripple) with no one riding it.

I actually saw a couple of these boats at the Dallas boat show a couple weeks ago, and they are absolutely horrible. They have virtually no free board, and the molded in step is a complete waste of usable boat space. The interior looks cheap as hell, and then on top of that they still had them at $70k for "boat show pricing" specials. No thanks. Never thought I'd say this, but I was actually liking the NXT better...which is really sad...

I sat in a Gekko back in the day when they first came out and I thought at the time it was a horrible boat.

Sorry. Just my .02. And, that was comparing it to a used 2002 XStar that I owned at the time.

A friend of mine bought an older Gekko a few years ago. At the time i was selling my MC205 and he ended up passing on it because the gekko was $6k cheaper. In the end he absolutely hates his boat and regrets not buying mine instead. Worst part is he is kinda stuck with the boat because he can't find anyone to buy it. Just from looking online at the new ones i can't imagine they're going to sell well. The dealer in Alberta with these also sells MBs for slightly more. I can't imagine buying a Gekko when i can get a nice MB for only $10k more.

My buddy who owned a Revo had the same issue. He got it on a bro type deal as he owned a board shop and it took him like 2 years to dump it. I think he used it about a month before putting it up for sale.

Hey Sykess are you a robot because you mentioned the word Gekko like 10 times. Also, you bought 2 new boats in 2003? cool story. Also, sorry to break it to you but those industry magazines give every boat great reviews because they are funding the magazine's existence. I've got nothing against Gekko, just saying.

I stopped by a smaller boat show in northern, MN and a dealer had brought the same 2015 Gekkos they had the last couple years. Prices were down to like 50% of msrp, but they still can't unload them.
Old     (boardman74)      Join Date: Jul 2012       02-20-2017, 9:37 AM Reply
The dealer your talking about has been spamming them all over for years. Last I heard is they hadn't sold a single one of them.

I saw they were into the low 20's for the closed bow slalom boat.

70k listed above new and if they really are at 50% of msrp and in the high 30's I imagine they will sell over someone buying a bayliner or cobalt. not a dream wake/surf boat but to be in a new inboard for high 30's surprised they are not moving.
I'd buy one of these over a wake tractor

Naw, he has them on craigslist for between $49-55K. Dude has a entire lot full of 2015's. New 17's are listed at MSRP around 70K. He's no where near half MSRP.

So considering most say 20% off is a good deal on NEW...then a new 17 should be able to be had sub 60K. So 55K for a 2 year old hold over is still way over priced.
