Hi Cj, i might have something that you might find useful on my site, its a buyers guide.

http://www.boarder-control.co.uk/#!buyers-guide/cjxz

From what your've said i'd say you be best off with a board around a 138,139. Im guessing you'll be riding boat so id recommend a classic stiff board maybe a Hyperlite Marek, Kruz or perhaps a Liquid Force Harley. All these boards can be found and impartially reviewed. If there is anything else i can help with or if you've got any more information about your riding id be more than happy to help.

Hope this helps.

Think Ronix and Liquid Force, Do not think hyperlite until you demo all of the boards!

Yeah as joe said, try and demo boards before you buy. Hyperlite can be fairly aggressive. The Ronix One may be a great choice.

Do any of your local boat dealers do a "demo days"? We have one here in Portland and they have all the reps from the major board companies out to let you use gear and try it out behind the new boats for free. ours is usually in May and it's a don't miss event.

We also have a strong presence with Slingshot over here since they're built a couple hours away from us. I guess they are totally different in that they are wood and not a fiberglass/foamcore construction. But as you can tell by looking through this forum, they have a VERY strong presence in the marketplace, so I wouldn't rule them out.

And I'm sure you'll take to it pretty well. Getting up on a wakeboard is something that you can do in your sleep if you can deep water start on a slalom. Getting up on a ski is seriously 20x harder than a wakeboard.

Have fun and welcome to riding sideways!
