Word, I've heard great things about the Watson. I'm gonna leave it at that because I shouldn't be hijacking this thread. Sorry y'all!

while this "flex" talk is going I will loop it back to a 2012 board line question.

Is the Hybrid core Shane going to be the only board offered with Shane's name on it for 2012? The video sure made it sound that way.
IF so, we can add one more pro to the growing list of pro riders switching to a flexier board.

the phrase, "you don't see big name pros on flex boards" is losing its volume a little at a time. i like seeing these "hybrid" flex type boards, reminds me of how we see more and more "hybrid" rockers. now if i can just find an opportunity to try one

I don't know the answer to this question but Watson still had his regular core boards along with his hybrid so I'm thinking Shane will still have his. Its a real popular shape and not everyone likes the "flex" type boards.. Just my guess tho.

Shane will only have the hybrid board this year. I think its on the LF AU page, but they explain that its the only board he rides

Shane was probably riding it around today at mcCormicks when I was out there. Although I did see him with his 11' bindings.

have you heard of the watson setup ? i demoed this board a few weeks ago and fell in love with it instantly is a crazy amazing board. it delivered time and time again and it seems to come out of anything . its wood core gives it lots of flex which transfers to amazing pop of the wake. it is worth every penny

Does anyone know the major differences on the 2012 Ronix One and the 2012 Parks board yet? I know the Parks is a little wider and maybe a tad more rocker? I looked at them both today at Worlds in Indy and couldn't really tell a major difference and the guys working the booth were way to busy at the time to talk too. I had a Viva and sold it the begging of summer to buy a Ibex after riding one, but had a emergency surgery 3 days later and couldn't ride the rest of the summer. So know i am looking at 2012 board and really like the looks of the One, but liked the way the Ibex rode, so just tryin to get some info because i don't really have a place to demo, that i know of.....

Thanks in advance

Anyone know anything about the 2012 Hyperlite gear, more specifically the 2012 Murray. Is it going to be a new shape (since they had been changing the shape about every 2 years)? And any pictures? Also anything about year 2 of the system, I saw a few little things about the bindings earlier, but not much about the new years boots.
Old     (ponder86)      Join Date: Mar 2008       08-21-2011, 9:32 PM Reply
The Murray shape is the same. If you have Facebook you can like his page and he has a picture of his 2012 bio board. Boots look good this year.

Marek has a new shape and they have a new flex board called the Union.

I don't know that it is true that more pros are riding flex boards. The new shane hybrid is a sandwich construction, but it has less flex than many/most compression molded boards.

And if anything is true the "flex-riders" are riding stiffer boards. The slingshots have evolved from being very soft to just as stiff as any other board line in recent years.

I think if anything will be taken from the "flex-era" it is more the new manufacturing processes than the actual flex itself. The sandwich boards are tough as nails and allow for seamless solid poly edges.

I think phalanx will have quality boards, made by integrity. However, I can't imagine there being enough to put orders out on time.

this is partially what i was aiming at with the comment about "hybrids" popping up more and more. a middle ground is growing just like with rocker types

I just picked up the District Sintered after riding a Quarter Til Midnight (Same shape, but much softer).

The 2012 District combines the best atributes of the Quarter Til (Sintered base) and the 2011 District (more glass). It takes a little more to get it to bend on rails, but the raw pop and the ollies are considerably better.

Word is O'Brien is comin out with a new flex board but with molded in fins instead of the removable ones. I believe its gonna be called the baker and the graphics are rasta (red, yellow, green, for those who don't know). The Player is out of the line and the Clutch will have the same graphics as this year. The natural is moved down and another board comes into the line other then the Baker, which I havent heard much on. The Format, Paradigm, Decade, Skyla, Natural, Valhalla and Clutch are all still in the lineup though. Plus all the boots have their new plate system on them.

YESSS!!

(gona sell my RAD's i think. Love the Rads, but this is got me drooling)

THANK YOU SLINGSHOT

they also added a lace pull thing (on the central laces) on the RADs that some of us were modding this year to loosen laces easier

those bindings would be sweet for cable.. although i still think the hyperlite systems are more ideal.

they (CWB) made them "replaceable" only just recently for 2011
...BUT... from my understanding they are more "Re-moveable" than replaceable... as in you can remove a strap for a looser feel then "replace it" again later.
don't see CWB selling straps individually like slingshot did for the option boots this year and I remember a thread where someone tried to get individual straps from CWB and there were not really any to be had.

...but hey i might be wrong, if so let me know

I like Slingshot's method of attachment better anyway. they attach to themselves and not to the boot. ALL velcro is replaced each time, not most of it.
but i suppose i am only assuming slingshot will offer true replacements again for these in 2012

Looking at the Slingshot thread, someone beat me to the punch on asking whether the RAD liners will be more durable. I LOVE them, but I had a very short summer riding (literally a dozen or so boat sets in them) and the heel in my right boot is ready to go. They're saying the material is now perfect...so I'm hoping the new liners fit in the 11' shells.

That lyman deck looks amazing....

That Lyman looks drastically different than the one originally posted on Alliance during his retirement. Less appealing to me now, those tip/tail don't seem necessary.

that fish tail will actually help keep the board locked on edge. it's one of the only, if not the only, tip/tail design that does anything.

i love the new watson hybrid graphic, it reminds me of a surfboard. One thing though, is the core in the watson hybrid different than the 3 wood/2 pvc stringer cores of the shane and flx? On the graphic it looks like the wood is where the pvc should be so i was confused.
