Jay, my brother just bought the 2500HD Silverado with the 6.2 a couple of months ago. If there is anything you would like to know, I would be more than happy to answer.

Thanks for all the input everyone. After a few test drives, reading all your comments, and a lot of debating with myself, I decided to go with the 6.2L. Just felt that it did a better job when I did my test drives. Ended up getting about 10500 off of msrp, plus they cut me a fairly good deal on my Avalanche. Financing is at 2.8% so won't be losing too much to interest. I'll be sure to start collecting some good data for anyone else who might come to having to make the same decision.
Details: 2011 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, 6.2L, LTZ, Max Tow Package (gives you 3.73 gears & a
bigger rear axle).
Thanks again for your insight!
Here are two crappy iPhone pics.

Great looking truck Jay and it sounds like the deal was right! You won't be disappointed with the choice. Both platforms make for a good tow vehicle but the 6.2 does give you a little better capabilities.

The 3/4 ton is not available with the 6.2L, only the 6.0L, or the Duramax....
I really wish they would put the 6.2L in the 3/4 ton!!

Well, how much did you pay? Maybe that's rude, but I'm curious if you don't mind sharing.

Excluding trade, taxes, fees, it was $36,800. I added on a bed liner, tonnau cover, and a rubber bed mat (good for keeping wakeboards from sliding around) for an additional $909.
Not too bad considering a 2009 5.3/CrewCab/LTZ with about 20-30k miles on it are going for between 30-34k (or higher).

Just a follow up to the truck. I towed the SAN 230, loaded with tons of gear, a full gas tank, and also had a lot of stuff in the truck bed up North and back this past weekend and the thing was awesome. As I mentioned, I have a heavy foot, and this thing had all the torque I needed. People really aren't in a rush up there, so there was a lot of quick passing being done on a 2 lane road. We'd be going 55, and I was able to stomp on it and get up to 70 and pass the slow cars in just a few seconds.
I averaged 8.5 mpg on the trip. Over the past few days of non towing, I've been getting about 14/15 mpg in the city, and about 17 mpg on the hwy. I still have less than 600 miles on it, so I'm expecting the #'s to just get better as we get up to about the 10,000 mile range.
