Hey Guys.....

A guy I know rescued a 1 year old Bull Mastiff ..... This is what his wire had to say about her....

To tell you what I know about Anna Belle, my husband rescued her March 2nd
from a family where she had been chained to a tree for over six weeks - that
was her 3rd family/owner. They had apparently rescued her from a worse
situation. We understand that the original owner docked her tail and she
was thought to be 10 months old. There are supposedly papers for her and I
need to follow up and try to get them.

She was pregnant with 8 puppies, we had AB fixed and thereby the pregnancy
terminated. She barely tested positive for tape and heart worms and has been
undergoing treatment. She has had all of her shots and follow up meds for
tape worms. Her monthly heart worm medication should clear that issue in
less than six months and she has no cough.

AB is house trained and will sit on command. She is possessive of me and
follows me everywhere. If I put her in the house with my father, she always
has to have him in her line of sight. Sometimes she'll go into her crate
but never wants to stay in it. I haven't focused on that as she is already
house trained.

We currently have 3 bull mastiffs, so everyone is playful and possessive of
their humans, bones, the food bowl, etc. So we have some dog fights over
chew toys, etc. I am fortunate that my father is with them all day long to
break up most squabbles. According to Cesar Millan, the ever famous Dog
Whisperer, this needs to managed and stopped immediately - so we're on top
of it!

Anna Belle has calmed a lot since arriving but still needs discipline and
love. If you go near her face and growl, she'll growl/snarl right back.
About 4 days after she arrived (and two days after surgery), my father
startled her as she was sleeping next to him and she bit his face. It
wasn't bad but nonetheless... Now she walks up to him and "kisses" him
several times every day.

She used to snip at each of my dogs for no apparent reason but as we've
corrected her, she has tapered off and only does it once every few days.

She craves attention and I make her wait for it. She will still get very
excited, run back and forth and jump on you when you come in the room, so we
are still working on that!

She doesn't always come when you call her. In fact, she usually sits down.

I am not sure a home with young children is a good idea for her.

Please let me know what you think or write back with questions, there's no
pressure here. We have to find the right family for Anna Belle and when it
happens, it happens!

If there are any takers.... let me know and give me your info..... so I can give it to them.

Its awesome she's in a good spot now and I really hope you find someone who will spend some time with her. People who do dogs like that just urk me badly man. When I worked installing telephones in College, I cant tell you how many times I would run into stuff like this in all types of neighborhoods. Animal control was on my speed dial.

What gets on my nerves is..... Animal control left a warning on my door the other day for my Boxer that was outside...

It 1st said.... "Dog roaming at large" and then was marked out and said "offer saw radio collar"

then is said "no proper housing" (i have a 3 bay garage with the doors open)
then it said "no proper food or water" (water was in the garage) She sleeps inside and gets feed once a day at a certain time.

I do not have any kids and I felt as if someone had called DHR on me or something. I have never neglected my girl and it pisses me off when someone (animal control) is saying I am not taking proper care of her.

Poor baby... that's just so awful. It takes a special kind of monster to mistreat an animal.

I love mastiffs.. wish we could have one. Good luck on finding her a home and major props to the family that has taken her in.

Not much lower than someone that abuses animals.... Good to see she's in a good home. Good luck with finding some new parents for her.

Is this a bulldog mastiff mix or a boxer mastiff mix? My sis in law has the boxer/mastiff mix. What an awesome dog.

I was good until you said that she would not be good around small children. BM's are my second choice for a pet for my son. Lab is the first choice.

My brother in law has a 110 Lb Bm that he got from the pound. She is the best dog around the kids. She is pretty mellow too. My two big labs (12 and 13) are great dogs and of course great with kids too. In comparison you deal with the sober with a Bm and the shedding with a lab. The puppy stage of a lab is a little more excessive than with the BM, but either is a great choice.
