Is it so much to ask for a common fluid among the engine, v-drive, and the transmission. This **** drives me crazy! (And the Blue on the left has 10w30 behind it, grabbed two off the shell that were obviously NOT the same... even more annoyed)...

Yes, it is too much to ask for a common fluid. You can run ATF in everything and you actually will have more power. Unfortunately the engine will die about 10X quicker and V-drive gears will spall and get really loud in a short time. People only do that when racing in a production spec class and have lots of money to waste.

But it's a pretty picture. Maybe use it as a background for your digital scrapbooking of the season's best runs...

My 2003 mastercraft takes 15w-40 in the engine and the same in the zf hurth v-drive/transmission. I'm not sure if that's still the case with the newer ones.

Does your car use the same fluid in every single thing?

Back in the 1920's you could probably get a car that used the same fluid in most places. The mechanicals were very simple. Of course it needed almost daily maintenance and a full rebuild after no more than 20,000 miles. We take for granted the high level of technology that we operate in our machines today. Machines that have become so much more reliable than the ones from "the good old days". That higher level of technology has very specific engineering requirements in order to maintain the reliability. You're complaining about having to use different fluids when 100 years ago you wouldn't be doing an oil change. You'd be doing a rebuild.

07 X-Star is the same. 2 jugs of 15w-40 and and oil filter is all you need for a full fluid change.

Dumb rant. Change oil once or twice a year, change ATF every couple years... same with gear lube. Not sure what the issue is. Don't like it, pay someone else to do it.

That's not how science works ya dingus. Quit complaining about your one shelf of lubricants. Anyone here with a real garage has a floor to ceiling wall of oils, lubricants, pumps, etc.....

Everyone needs some time on the water.

I would agree 4 hours on the boat would beat the 18 I played in the rain today!
