seems like they made the bindings for Liquid force more afforadble BUT, they look cheap. I am glad I have the 08 Melissa's. Way better

I agree Kim. they look like they're taken quite a few steps backwards, and the ones I tried on felt a lot stiffer than previous years. I'll be keeping my 07 Melissas too I think :-)
not that i'm going to need them anytime soon... have just stuffed my knee again :-(

Alice...when you say stuffed, you mean ACL blown?
I hope not! I've had my share of those (3)...take care & heal quick!

hey kat, MRI says partial ACL tear, (and some meniscus damage) but I'm still waiting to see the surgeon, so i'm not sure if it will mean surgery or not yet. I'll let you know! my GP thinks no surgery, and my physio thinks i will need surgery, so I guess the specialist gets the deciding vote :-)
i definitely have less pain and swelling than last time, so you never know... same leg. i'm guessing you've had surgery on both? is surgery on the same leg easier the 2nd time around?

ps i was wearing my custom cti2 - it didn't stop the injury, but i think it may have limited the damage...

Maybe you won't need surgery...I have a torn meniscus that I am just living with at this point. I actually dislocated my knee one time while wearing my CTi, but did not do any ligament damage. My doc was amazed. I think without it, multiple tears would have resulted.

My 2nd time was a tougher surgery for the doc due to removing old hardware. I went with allograft vs patellar tendon (1st time) and actually rode a few weeks post surgery (just tooling around obviously)!

Good Luck and keep us posted!

yeah, i'm very curious to see what he'll suggest for the graft this time (if i need surgery). allografts are really uncommon here in australia. my first one was hamstring, and my physio thinks he would take hamstring from my other leg this time. i hadn't really thought much about hardware... i guess that will make it tricky too.

there's one line in the MRI report that has me worried. it starts: "Although there appears to be some continuity of graft fibres.... (etc etc)".
That 'Although' really doesn't sound promising!

my appt is on wed morning, so I'll fill you in after that :-)

sorry for hijacking your thread Kim!

update for you Kat:
looks like the graft is completely torn or as good as. have surgery booked for 15th dec, so it looks like i'll be a cripple for xmas! makes it easier to get time off work i guess.

he's going to use the hammy from my other leg, though also gave me the option of patellar tendon, but i decided to stick with the hammy. the first one gave me a good 5 years, and it was my own silly fault i tore it anyway!

he said apart from the acl my knee is in really good shape, so hopefully i'll be back on track fairly quickly... :-)

Thanks for the update, Alice...what were you doing when you tore it this time?

Good Luck & Stay positive! This is just a minor set back considering there are far worse things that could keep us from our passion much longer!

it was right at the end of an awesome set, and i was going to try one last hs 180, but it didn't feel right in the air so i pulled out, and didn't quite get all the way back around. so, i landed sort of square to the boat, and with my front leg very straight and all my weight out behind the board. felt my knee pop instantly and was pretty sure of what i'd done...

so the lesson is - never land straight legged - and if you're going to pull out of something - try to land on your ass!! :-)
