I found one I like that is on a consignment sale. Boat is pretty much loaded out and has factory gravity 3 ballast. Vinyl all seems to be in good shape. From research low value is sitting at roughly $32k. This will be my first v-drve. My question is for you professional boat buyers what would you offer on this?

Always good to start low in my opinion. If they really want to move the boat you might get lucky. If 32k is what it was I'd come in at 27k

I have looked around this forum and saw where these boats were going for around $32 - $34 about 2 years ago. $27k to $28 seems like it should be the target to start a negotiation

What's the asking price? Would be hard pressed to get a serious response if you offer 28k on a 38k asking price. I'd start with a 10-15% reduced offer.

I wouldn't even consider making an offer on a boat that is priced well above its actual value.

asking is $36k. Personally I would like to be top end $32.

So your offer should be somewhere in the low-30s. If I had to guess, I'd say you might offer 30k and the seller would come back and meet you in the middle at 33k.

I think 32 is a good price.

I paid 36 for mine 4 years ago with only 80 hours on it. 32 sounds legit to me now.

Also, consider the ballast system. Supra did not perfect their ballast systems until the 2009 model year. 2008 and below use aerator pumps which are notoriously difficult to prime. You may want to consider the money you will spend ripping out the stock pumps, switches, and sprinkler valves so you can replace all of it with the self priming Jabsco ballast pumps Supra starting using in 2009. We had nothing but problems with our old Supra ballast system but our 2009 Supra ballast system has not had a single issue. They are great boats so you will not regret the boat but you do want to plan on spending some money to completely replace the ballast system.

Thanks for that info Tre. I did read about those issues when doing some research on these boats. Any idea on the cost for the upgrade to the Jabsco pumps? More ammo also for not spending over 32k for the boat.

2007 was first year for CAT exhaust which is a MUST if you like to wakesurf and pretty much eliminates the need for FAE. It was not on the standard 325 hp but on the upgraded 340 hp which also included upgraded 100 amp alternator. That was about a $2500 upgrade but in my opinion I would -$2500 for not having that motor.

Also I have a better fix for the ballast system - replace sprinkler valve with motorized ball valves- $200 - outstanding performance pm me for details

You will want three of these pumps/switches (one for each bag) http://www.wakemakers.com/jabsco-bal...oard-pump.html

You may also need to run new hose which may require new fittings on the bags (also not cheap). Lastly, you may also need to run new wire because these self priming pumps use a lot more amperage when compared to the old pumps. The guys at wakemakers would be able to give you a complete list of parts you need. I noticed they also have this setup: http://www.wakemakers.com/supra-moom...m-upgrade.html I'm thinking you want 3 pumps if you want to surf so you can empty/fill on one sire only. Not sure why they only show 2 pumps included but I'm guessing they can explain. Looks like you will not escape for less than $1,000 assuming you do the install yourself.

How about a 05 21v with 1100 hours and in great condition. Dealer is asking $28k?

Had an 05 21v that I bought in 07. Sold it in 2013 for 32k. Still had the factory ballast and had no problems priming. Only problem we had was slow to fill and empty but we could drop the boat in, hit the switches and head down the lake. By the time we got to our ridding spot everything was full and ready to go!!

How many hours when you sold in 13?

The ballast system argument is overblown here. I have the same system, and with the exception of having to replace a 12 dollar valve here and there, it works just fine. I never have to start driving to prime the system, and while yes, it fill slow compared to a ballast system with 2 or 3 pumps shoving water into a single bag, it's not a big deal. Turn everything on when you get in your boat and are headed to your riding spot, by the time you're there, it's full. If you surf a lot and need to switch water from bag to bag, get a tsunami pump and some quick attach plugs for the bag and just pump from one bag to the other with an external pump while also filling with your pump in the ballast system. Doing this I switch sides using 750lb bags in the lockers in under 4 minutes. Not an issue, and certainly not worth spending $1000 plus your time on an entirely new ballast system. The boats from 2007, expect 2007 technology.

Otherwise, I think it's well priced at 32k. They're certainly going for more than that, and I wouldn't sell my 20 foot 2006 supra for less than 28k, so offering anything less than that would be insulting IMO. Supra is a strong brand with great build quality. You're not buying an upgraded Moomba from 2007. These are good boats in line with the quality of the big 3.
