I had a quote on an Axis A22 decently optioned (tricked out gel and trailer, surfgate, swivel racks and some other options for almost 72k MSRP before taxes. One dealer was firm at MSRP, the other hasnt gotten back to me with an actual price yet. I was hoping to be around 64k out the door

wow it kinda sucks if that IS the axis surfgate because that wave is nothing to brag on.

Why? Because the pic wasn't taken all low to make the wave look huge? That's a 8ft surfboard. Looks like a long wave to me.

That is definitely not SG. That is a 12 or 13 platform. With that being said I agree with Chase. It's funny how some people take pics at certain angles to create an illusion as to how big their surf wakes are and this angle is not very flattering, but still looks pretty good.

Bryce,

It's going to be pretty hard for them to get to that price on a 14' that is equipped as you have described.

I heard SG on axis was going to be able to be retrofitted. If that rumor was true it could be SG. If you zoom in you can see the edge where it could possibly be SG on the side.

That would be a nice option, but when I ordered my new Vandall I didn't see it.

I also heard there was no RETROFIT for SG.....but that is hearsay.

why would they let you retro-fit sg on an axis but not the more expensive malibu boats...makes no sense to me

Chase- I see what your talking about, but that is just the lip on the Axis platform. Which I believe will be gone on the new SG platform. I think it would have to be for it to fit in there correctly.

A 8FT surfboard will also surf easily on a small wake.Hence you can create the illusion the wave is surf able that far back.If it was a 4 ft or 52 inch board i'd be impressed.

And you can also go wake to wake on a 125ft line with no ballast with proper technique.

Also, nobody with access to a 2014 Axis with surfgate (if such a thing were to even exist) would be riding it with an 8 foot longboard, because that would be stupid.

Hey man, if it's not on their consumer website, then it doesn't exist

My main point was that the photo above was definitely NOT a boat with Surfgate.

Functional? Compared to what? The new one has lost a TON of functionality from the interior of the 08'-13's

What the dealers can see and do is not the same as what the customers are supposed to see and do... Sounds like somebody was breaking protocol...

wasn't it rumored that they would take away 210 features in order to drop the price and the G21 would come into the lineup to be the high-end wake boat?

14' production started July 1st correct? So why wouldn't they start taking build orders after that?

Rumored, and now proven apparently.

I wonder what the price is now, and how this will effect 08-13 resale considering those boats have more equipment.

Should help maintain the older boats value, yes? Buy a nice used better equipped boat, or a new more basic model, or a NEW G21.

Nautique basically did a favor to the existing users keeping the value of their boats alive...

Here is a post I wrote over at planet nautique about the differences and how they might effect values.

If there is a drop in msrp, it will hurt older boat value as they can go buy a new one for close to what a used one is. When MC went from the X2 to the X1, the X1 was less expensive and X2 values dropped a decent amount.

It might help, but in the past it has hurt.

According to a reliable source, who has built a 2014 according to his posts, the new ones are more expensive than his 2012 was.

The 210/230 MSRPs for 2014 are the same as they were in 2013. I guess in Nautique's world this is a price drop considering they go usually up 3%-5% every year.

You sure about that??? Let's run through a future scenario....

Prospective Buyer - "Oh you have the 210? Isn't that the cheap model?"

Seller (you) - "Umm, nah, mine is a 2012 model. Back when it was the best one. It's better."

Prospective Buyer - "Well, I can get a new one for (insert price here). Why would I pay so much for your old one?"

the MSRP is not really any different at all. Instead of dropping the price, they simply kept it the same as last year's model. It's hardly any different. The 210 isn't cheap by ANY stretch of the word.

So they did away with some of the functionality of the interior (reversing seat, pop up spotters seat back), simplified the gel coat scheme options, and are keeping the price the same?

I'm a Nautique guy, but even I can't sprinkle sugar on top of that bs...

Maybe dumbing down the 210 a bit won't hurt resale (again when the X2 became the X1 with less polish, it did), but the G21 certainly will drive used 210 prices down.

If you have a wakeboard boat (especially a 210) now then basically the "upgrade" path is to a g21 or g23. Cause, the perception is going to be that a 2014 210 is less of a boat then the old ones.

If you don't have a wakeboard boat now then you can shop for either a new 210 or a g21 or whatever else you can afford.

So that kind of makes sense to me. I guess.

have to disagree a bit ... Lets say a 2014 210 goes for mid to high 80's. If you bought your 12 or 13 right and kept it in good shape you should be able to make a value proposition to a potential buyer of "yours being the superior boat even at a reduced price from a 2014"

So lets say I paid mid 70's for my 2012. If the majority of people see the 14' as a step back in innovation it will be a relatively easy deal to make. This doesn't mean I will get more than I paid for my 12' but I hope the value isn't going to nosedive ...

More like this:

Prospective Buyer - "Oh you have the 210? Isn't that the 21' model?"

Seller (you) - "Umm, yah, mine is a 2012. Back when it was the best one. It's better than the 2014."

Prospective Buyer - "Well, I can get a new one for (insert price here). Why would I pay so much for your old one?"

Seller (you) "mine is for sale at (insert price of new one minus 5-10k) and it has a superior seating layout, throws the exact same wake, and has the same options. Plus it doesn't look like a Malibu ...

(Not that malibus look bad, I think they are sexy, I just don't like that nautique obviously ripped off their design language)

I think your 210 ownership and your want to keep resale high might be clouding your vision a bit, but time will tell. I keep pointing back to the X2 to X1 transition that happened in 2006, but that change did occur with a slight decrease is price along with a dumbing down of the package. Old config, new config, the 210 is still one of my favorite boats. And maybe I am in the minority, but I like the looks of the '14s deck and gel scheme.

In the end, resale values will be enhanced by the new boat market. Back when your X1 was mid 40s to 50s in 2009 during the financial mess "why pay 50 for the same boat I can get with 50 hours for 35k, with more options".

If nothing, they will keep values the same, for a long time... Look at the old SAN and Xstar/2/1 and first pickle X. You could have bought a 2002 SAN TE in like 2006 for 24-26... guess what they cost now...

I have a buddy who picked up a used 04 X2 a few yrs ago for 35 (he stole it), bet its worth near the same now 30-35. Its all red ext, every option...

What exactly about this new model is an upgrade over the past generation top deck? Anybody?

Hey Delta, if you're asking about the difference between the new 210 versus the old (14 vs 13) there are quite a few changes. Most importantly the ballast system has been completely revamped and factory ballast is now about 1100lbs instead of the old 900. You can also get it from the factory with a pro ballast system that adds another 800lbs. It looks good too because they put trays over the pro system so you still have some storage and don't just see bags laying around. They also added a walk thru transom and fine tuned some other areas. The hull is slightly different as well and I think this boat will really impress some people. Of course it's not for everyone and to each his own, but I'm pretty excited to see how it will perform with the new ballast, hull, and add surf system.

I have a 2012 210. I do not think the new boat will significantly affect the value of mine either direction. Mine is going to depreciate no matter what, and a '14 is going to cost more - everything else being equal.

Plus, the "I want to have the latest and greatest" phenomenon is going to apply.

Not sure if this was shown or mentioned anywhere. All the G23s at WWA Nationals had this factory FAE. Thought it was pretty interesting.

They are shown on the FAE FB page. I assume Larry is making them.
