I'm not a huge fan of the Broadcast, personally I found the rear traction pad uncomfortable and the board much more difficult to find the sweet spot than other boards.
I would look for something with high volume (Thicker). This trait is commonly found in more surf style construction boards which requires a little more TLC but the benefits are worth it. More volume means more buoyancy, the board will ride higher in the water, is much easier to catch the sweet spot, and can be ridden further back out of the pocket and into the wash than traditionally compression molded boards.
I'd recommend considering the O'Brien Ally
http://www.obrien.com/product/ally/ It's a high volume board, has comfortable traction pads, large shovel tail that gives the board lots of push / allows the board to be ridden in smaller less than ideal waves, and my favorite feature is the board construction. It's constructed from soft plastic, like a high end boogie board and has foam rails so when beginners launch it into the boat it's not going to scratch your gel or worse, gash someones head open. and at 4'8" it's much more maneuverable for the kids and would take up less room in the boat.
