We had to clear ice just to get out on the lake. Check out the video of us wakeurfing in 38° Minnesota Lake Water HERE: http://bit.ly/38_degree_surfing

I'm waiting for my chance to be there with yah lol. My record is April 14th wakeboarding. Most of the lake was still covered with ice lol.

Yea Jon, a lot of docks going in now on this side of town - saw quite a few on White Bear and Bald Eagle this weekend. Our boat comes out of storage this weekend so I can knock out a few preseason things. I haven't ponied up for a dry-suit yet, so it'll probably be closer to the end of the month before we drop in.

Props to Brian for getting out there. I've got few friends who hit the river monthly through the winter here - but haven't yet felt the need to check that box.

That was a great video! enjoyed the story.

January 28th, I went snowboarding in the morning, then drove from Mt Hood down to the Willamette river in Portland and went wakeboarding and wakesurfing in the afternoon.

I'll see your 38 degree water and raise ya 36 degree water.

Drysuits for the win.

The earliest I've been riding was, well.... New year's day. But the water that time was balmy in the 40's. It's actually cold now because of runoff from the mountains. yesterday it was 41 in the river.

Damn. And I was feeling pretty tough with no wetsuit in 55* water the other day. 38* with no wetsuit is f'n nuts.

Kudos to the cold water guys. Doin it for the love!

I'm surprised you have ice with water temps at 38. we (almost) never see ice on our river... Maybe it's the current?

^^^Clearly. Like I always say though, water is only cold while you're in it. It's not cold while you're on it.
