Would that be the only $100k+ 21' wakeboat on the water?

Keep it up MC I guess that just keeps the sale price of my XStar (205v).

$100k wake boats.... what a joke. Isn't this a down economy? Aren't people still losing their houses? What happened to making more affordable boats?
Sorry, ain't gonna happen at my house unless we win the lottery sometime soon.

It is a joke but looks like MC has gone the way of upper end Mercedes, BMW etc. This is the segment of the market they are attacking. Upper middle class and above as well as people willing to sell their soul to HUGE payments over 15 years. High quality products with a name your willing to pay for. Nothing wrong with it. I drive a toyota and own a 2002 x star. Probably start seeing more start ups or middle class boats doing better with less bling and great wake(axis, moomba, ride series, tige z series etc). It will hurt the dealers more than anything smaller market to attack with the same amount of dealers. There will need to be even more attrition with production being cut as well. That being said people love checking out Lamborghini Ferrari lotus etc.

Keep in mind when I listed those prices earlier that that that is a close guesstimate of the MSRP prices. I would expect to pay 10-20% off of those when actually purchasing the boat. I also am not stating those or the 100k is actually what they will cost. I am making a guess based on my past working welling MC. In 2007 the numbers I was throwing out are pretty close to what MC lists as MSRP for the options. Someone mentioned the 8k for the trailer was nuts but I would at all be surprised if their listed MSRP for a tandem trailer with LED's and 4 wheel disc brakes is about 10k. I want to say when I was selling that a typical charge was 1500-1700 for Tower Speakers with lights. I could be wrong though.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there is no such thing as a stripped down X series MC. The swivel racks, Jl components, amp, sub, PP are all standard on the X series.

Mastercraft isn't in the business of selling affordable boats. They are in the business of selling whatever makes them the most money. Here is a good example of when I was selling them. I sold a custom order 100% loaded Prostar 197(best looking boat I sold). Most of the custom orders took 4-6 weeks to get to our dealership if I remember correctly and sometimes you could get them sooner if you already had a manufacturing spot in line that was coming up soon. Anyways I told the customer we usually see 4-6 weeks but it could be a little longer. I turned in the order to my boss at the end of feb. or early march. He was expecting to have his boat in early may. Well that didn't happen. MC kept pushing his build date back because they weren't building any other 197's or they had so many orders for more expensive Vdrives even though Cope's should of had a spot in line that should have been used to build this boat. My customer didn't get his boat till the 4th of July or maybe even after that. It took 4-5 months for him to get his boat. I suppose it could of been Frank or Bob Cope telling MC to hold off on building it because they wanted them to build the more expensive 45's and stars but that doesn't make any sense as this guy was ready to buy his boat the second it came in.

I hate to start negative talk, but geez, there's no innovation in this thing and that's the big claim.

Arm rests in the bow? Just waiting for a 12 year old to sit on and break.
Flip up rear seats? I've never thought, "Gosh it would be nice to have a back rest while putting on my wakeboard". Seems like a storage space reducer and limits access to the storage.

I do like the gas springs on all the hatches, but why didn't they do that with the cooler seat? My drunk pal is gonna snap that thing off after he gets his beer and tries pushing the seat down.

Same ol' tower....

But, with that said, It's all about the wake for me. So, I defilitely wouldn't pass up a ride behind one:-)
Old     (hco)      Join Date: Jun 2006       01-06-2010, 11:49 AM Reply
Tuneman- The armrests are built pretty darn well, I think if a twelve year old sat on one he would be an idiot (I wasn't that stupid when I was 12). Also, when hanging out and lounging around (what alot of MC owners do, not everyone is a hardcore wake enthusiast), those back seats will be handy, and wives and daughters LOVE sunpads/areas to lay out on. Also, they still have the same access to the storage compartment, and actually made it easier by being able to grab a vest or a rope without having to lift up a 1/3 of the rear sunpad area, now you have an access hatch.

Brett here goes hope this help on plug and play.the MSRP for BOAT ONLY $78,800.00.
Plug N’ Play Ballast Overview

As you know, MasterCraft has been working on engineering a secondary ballast system that works in conjunction with our existing factory ballast system. Here is an explanation of the Plug N’ Play Ballast system and the depth of engineering involved in making it a reality.

The Plug N’ Play Ballast system gives you the ability to mix and match ballast loads. By operating the ballast selection switch you can fill either tanks separately, bags separately, or both tanks and bags. You can also fill right side tanks and bags or left side tanks and bags to work in conjunction with surf tabs for killer surf wakes.

The heavy duty valves and valve indicator selection switches are all actuated electronically and do not require manual selection.

The circuit boards that control this system is proprietary to MasterCraft and has been waterproofed with a potted resin material. The result is a system that will be durable in the harshest of weather conditions including saltwater use.

In engineering the system, MasterCraft worked directly with Fly High to develop customized ballast bags which fit neatly in the storage areas. The rear bags take into consideration such factors as bulkhead dimensions and the raw water strainer location of each specific model. The forward bags take into consideration the dimensions of the storage area under the seats and obstructions such as stereo amplifiers and wiring. But the most important consideration in developing these additional ballast bags is engineering them to work within the Maximum Capacity of each MasterCraft model in which they are equipped.

Forgot to say the bags DO NOT come from Mastercraft.
Old     (hco)      Join Date: Jun 2006       01-06-2010, 12:17 PM Reply
Yup, and it's MSRP. If you pay MSRP for a boat in these times you're a fool and your dealer sucks. MC had plug n' play in some of their later 09's I though? I forget about that.

Also, if you opt to get the plug n' play on top of factory ballast and then fill the boat up with some people I am pretty sure you exceed the maximum weight that the boat is supposed to carry (which is the way it should be).

That is pretty cool if they are including that on every Mastercraft or at least the Xseries.
Old     (towboat_222)      Join Date: Feb 2007       01-06-2010, 12:34 PM Reply
They are getting it out on certain models after they do testing. The X80 and X55 wont get it not enough room to make difference. Most of the Xseries coming out now I think you can get it on.
Old     (jaybee)      Join Date: Aug 2007       01-06-2010, 1:46 PM Reply
Maybe I am a idiot, but by plug and play do you mean you can easily "plug" as opposed to "plumb" in new ballast bags? I will be livid if so, seeing as installation of my fly high kit was not cheap.

Tuneman says, "I hate to start negative talk, but geez, there's no innovation in this thing and that's the big claim."

This coming from a guy that is on a kneeboard in his profile pic. Wasnt kneeboarding popular in 1982? Oh and has an Epic with a 1995 Volvo Penta and a bow that looks like it should have a 15hp kicker on it.
Just messin with ya.

Plug and Play ballast as an innovation huh? Doesnt the Axis A22 have this first... Im biting my tongue on this one.
Old     (polarbill)      Join Date: Jun 2003       01-07-2010, 1:32 PM Reply
Bret, how does the Axis version work? Does it just use the overflow from the stock 3 tanks or does it have separate manifolds/valves controlled electronically? That is the only thing really innovative about the Mastercraft version unless Axis uses the same thing.
Old     (wakeride26)      Join Date: Dec 2006       01-07-2010, 1:44 PM Reply
It is on an overflow system, however you are filling bags in each, not hard tanks so there is now way to accurately monitor how much is in each. I do think that the independant control is a selling feature, however I do not know anyone who would not want the bags full all the way. The bow ballast " plug and play" has a seperate switch for it, the rear " plug and play" are overflows, just to be correct.

Why not a nice clean dash like tige's has with the new touch? Clean is so much better. Hey tall you ever get your swivel seat in your 45? Still trying to figure out how to do it on my old xstar.

I agree, that is a lot going on on that dash. I actually don't really like the Tige either. It doesn't have enough. That space to the left of the steering wheel looks weird with nothing there. Once again give a about 5 rocker switches on the left and 5 on the right and 3-5 gauges. As far as current boats the Malibu dash is the best looking.

I doubt very much that sitting in those rear facing seats above the swim step is going to be legal while underway? Probably just for chilling while stopped. Nice looking boat though. Some nice features for sure.

I spent some time in the X-25 tonight at the Portland Boat Show. It's probably my favorite boat in the MC lineup now (still love the X-15).

I like the rear seats, but not the small opening that they leave for the lockers. You can open up the entire rear hatch, but that seems like a pain.

Like all the MC's there's a ton of storage in this boat.

By far my favorite feature... you can order it with a small rear facing video camera up on the top of the tower. It tracks back and forth as the rider moves side to side. The driver can keep an eye on the rider on the dash screen. The driver can also hit a button to start recording to an SD card in the dash. Awesome! I think you can order this on any of the 2010 MC's.

Boat show price with MCX, two tower speakers, etc. was $75K. I think the only missing feature was the trim tabs.

I would rather have a mostly metal and/or composite dash than the vinyl wrapped dashes, I feel that they are ugly and the multiple pieces/colors I think makes it look cheap. If I snagged an x25 I would definitely ask for a different steering wheel. I also do not like the metal rings around each gauge, I think it looks cheesy (on all the 2010's). I also feel like tige's throttle looks pathetic sitting there all alone with no kind of arm rest to support your arm.

I agree with that just looking at the dash configuration. Just gotta think MC could have done something cleaner. Here is the BU dash. I do like the screen being off to the side on the Tige'

Brett, most Mastercraft's have the same options packages. If ordered as an X25 it will come standard with RTP, Stereo with JL speakers, sub and amp, 3 ballast tanks, PP, SS rubrail, pop-up cleats and Swivel racks. It may come with the trim tab standard like the X30 or X45 but my guess is that is an option on this model. Options would include Tower speakers, tower lights, cover, under water lights, bimini, tower mirror arm, fiberglass platform, tower mounted camera, bow filler cushion, trailer and maybe a few other things.

there was an x25 at the cleveland show, don't get me wrong i like mc's product, but all the x series boats remind me of the chevy camero in the late 90's early 2000's. when it came out, people thought it was cool, but now there is no market or a limited one. i almost bought the x2 in 06, but ended up with a malibu, i just can't see spending that much money on something that you could get tired of quickly

The dash is not doing it for me. Looks like two different dashes in the pictures.

dash is just tooooo over the top. I like the big telescope gauges. Also the contoured seats in the back I think I would prefer a bench. CC did that with some of their boats and went back to bench style. Would kill to have one but just me picking at it.

Since everyone is giving their unbiased opions on here (ha-ha), I think the x25 is the best boat that has come out this year. Everything else is stale and boring in my opion. Oh, and I love the dash. Good work to Mastercraft on this one.

I own an MC and I think its the ONLY new boat to come out this year as well??? So I guess the X star is stale and boring?? We all know everyone thats got 75k plus is going to buy the hell out of that boat. Could easily replace the X2 for the number one MC boat sales. Just have to wait 5 to 10 years before I can afford one used.

Wow, was loving the boat until i saw the steering wheel/dash. Love the boat, but would change that.

I agree...the xStar is extremely stale and boring. Time to revamp that bad boy!

BAD NEWS GUYS!
Just found out that our X25 isn't arriving till Tuesday the 26th so we will have to put off the demo day on Sammamish.
Really sorry, but as soon as the Seattle Boat Show is over, I'll set something up.
