Finally, a politician who wants to get something done! Even though I live in Wisconsin, the Governor of Michigan, today, has done more for our state and the Great Lakes than anyone here. She has instructed the Michigan Atty General to go to the U.S. Supreme Court to force the Army Corps of Engineers seal the locks towards the mouth of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship canal to stop the Asian Carp.

The carp jump out of the water and can knock out or potentially kill boaters or riders.

In the past few weeks, the carp have passed the Army Corps of Engineers' electric fence that was supposed to stop the carp from entering Lake Michigan. The lock is the last physical barrier before the lake.

Tonight, they are poisoning a several mile stretch of the canal, BELOW the electric fence, so they can shut the fence down for maintenance. This poisoning does nothing to the fish that already pose the greatest threat - the ones that have already passed the fence on their way to Lake Michigan.

For years, everyone could see this coming and no politician took any credible action to solve this problem. Thank you, Governor Granholm of Michigan, for stepping up in a bold way to stop this threat.

You can help. If you live in a Great Lakes state, contact your state governor/state legislators and request that your state join up with Michigan. We've got to stop these carp before they hit the Great Lakes. WRITE A LETTER/E-MAIL TODAY!
