So you were mad about his 19.5K last week and now 18.5K is OK.

If its about filing bankruptcy, your going to lose the boat or most of the cash. No way you can account for "allowed" expenditures for all that money. Anything that isn't OK they are going to take back.

^^Ding Ding!! I see now it has perfect pass too. Before there was no perfect pass.

Why do you have 8 batteries to run 2 amps? One spot you say there is 16 6x9 speakers(where??) and then a sentence later you say 4 of 14 6x 9 speakers. So is there 16 or 14?

Is this for real or are you just making it up as we go?

So for those looking for the cliff notes

jmorlan wants to lowball mr ripple
people confirm to jmorlan than anything under $20k is a silly good deal
jmorlan says he has a deal but after all of the price talk refuses to disclose his price
Mr. Ripple shows up, and is extremely butthurt that jmorlan has lowballed him.
Now, Mr. Ripple is willing to sell his boat for even less than jmorlan offered because he's out of $$$

So entertaining.
So, interior is likely hammered, no cover and 12 6x9's? That means at least 6 more holes in the boat that weren't factory, and why 6x9's.
8 batteries, likely all anchors now.
He thinks he had compression tested and its good. The boat is prolly a shat show hence the "issues".
Both of these guys are clowns.
Yet still entertaining. Man I love WW.

@Newty..thats why I asked where all these 6x9's are. No one uses 6x9's and now all these holes are there. I can't imagine 12 6x9's in the interior of a 21 foot boat.

I bet the boat is trashed..sure sounds like it. Likely not worth the 17.9K he quoted as low book!!

And after all your hoopla, don't worry someone IS going to remember when you try to sell it!

How's the boat? Been out on it yet?
Old     (Jmorlan)      Join Date: May 2013       09-10-2013, 3:18 PM Reply
I haven't yet, I have ordered 2 pair if Rev10's and an SD4 for the tower, and blue tooth control, and am working on Re stringing the interior LEDs in a different color, and swapping the 3 pairs of 6x9's that were in it.
(The other 6x9's were in custom boxes and removed them with no ill effects )

Also I guess I'm going to have to re key this thing because mr ripple will not bring me the keys I have been asking for, not sure if he doesn't have them or what.
I also called the marine place he stated he took it to that "looked it over" to try to get the report, they have no record of the boat.

Now everyone can see why I was in a hurry to close this deal before I went to FL, because I did not want things like this to happen.
Old     (Brendon444)      Join Date: Jul 2011       09-10-2013, 5:18 PM Reply
No keys? No record of the boat being serviced, seller didnt seem to know much about the boat. Is the title clear, sounds hot.
Old     (Jmorlan)      Join Date: May 2013       09-10-2013, 5:49 PM Reply
Title appears to be clear, is in the sellers name, along with the trailer. I had my bank look over the title as well and it seems to be ok.
As long as the seller did not sign off in the lien holders spot himself as "the bank" it appears to be right.

But in a financed situation, you will not actually have the title in your possession until the loan has been paid in full, then the bank will send you the title right?
So if there was still a lien, the seller wouldn't have had the title, am I right?

Idk I've never financed a car, boat, etc. I've always paid cash and received the title right away.
Old     (Jmorlan)      Join Date: May 2013       09-10-2013, 5:51 PM Reply
It is no big deal to re key it, a new ignition module with keys is only $17, but it does kind of piss me off and raise questions as why the keys have not been given.
Old     (Jmorlan)      Join Date: May 2013       09-10-2013, 6:36 PM Reply
Title is clean, just spoke with the bank that it was financed through, so all clear on that end.
Lets just hope this SOB runs lol

Dude you are totally stupid if you don't buy that boat! 158 hour, it is just broken in! In Ca you could sell that everyday for $25k no problem! I have a 2007 with about the same hours. You are giving this seller a bad offer for sure. You won't find a 05 that clean anywhere based on the pictures! You might find a boat for your pric buy not as clean as that looks!

So . . . The shop never maintained or looked at the boat - and the seller didn't have the keys - which means you really dont know how many hours are on it - which means he never started the boat - which means you didn't hear it run and don't know if it starts - which means you didn't test it on the water.

Awesome.

I did get the report from the shop, and they did run the engine, etc.

Oil needs to be changed, and I'm going to change the impeller.
Came back with good remarks.

But with a purchase price of 18,000..

I don't mind keying it, because the seller provided the incorrect key.

Again, this is why I was looking for quick information to close the deal before my trip. The seller wasn't the easiest person to deal with, and there was a very short time frame to make it happen. So of course it didnt go down 100% the way it should have, but again lets factor in the price paid. I'm sure many of you would have some give as well..

Why did it take so song to receive these things, I'm not sure. Maybe because the seller was a douche.

But all in all, not really concerned and I'm not so sure why others are so concerned either lol.

I wouldn't even bother with a key... just put in a pushbutton start with a hidden disabler so you can keep the boat from firing if you want (like a hidden flip switch on the starter relay). Keys are just a PITA on the boat IMHO, especially for those of us who trailer.

Even with a switch/push button, I'm under the assumption a key needs to be in the "on" position anyway to make it work?
Doesn't this defeat the keyless purpose?
Old     (grant_west)      Join Date: Jun 2005       09-12-2013, 2:41 PM Reply
The Keyless kits are cool.

You remove the traditional key and install a push to start button.
You keep with you a remote FOB this FOB when with in range this FOB activates OR allowed your boat to be turned on. I'm going to install one on my other boat this winter. My Nautique has a Keypad and is Keyless and IMO once your used to not dealing with a key it's hard to accept turning a cheep feeling key. The stock boat keys are so sloppy and cheep feeling in the ignition

I was thinking of something simpler, like this:

http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...=1381&catid=12

With potentially a hidden on-off switch (or better yet if you have a kill switch lanyard, that sucker wired up backwards so it kills the motor when the lanyard is in place). Nobody can steal my boat and drive it away on the trailer, and when it's on the water it's not like you have to be repo man to figure out how to hotwire it.

Just put gas in the boat and it only took $20 until full.
So hopefully the seller didnt fill 40 gallons in the tank with a garden hose

Read on the bottle, you can do lots of stuff with seafoam but yes in the tank.

I would still drain the tank though - seriously... That 18000 deal could wind up being a 23000 (after 5k engine) nightmare in a hurry. Just sayin

Imo if I was buying a boat and not super sure on the condition of the servicing on the boat I woulddrain all fluids and start afresh. Gas oil, trans fluid everything. Also impeller. But that's just me.

Water in your gas?

Or you mean you bought a key went out on it before you replaced all the fluids and gas?

Boat did great. Temps stayed good, all ballasts function properly. Stereo works as it should. Oil pressure great. Smooth idle. All batteries seem good, boat fires right up.
Smooth ride, dry bilge. All seems well!

Time to get her back on the trailer and wait for the wet sounds to arrive!

Stereo @ 2 Ohms4 x 340 Watts @ 123A
Mono @ 4 Ohms2 x 685 Watts @ 122A

Is stereo at 2ohm 4 x 340 watts incorrect? This is what the wet sounds folks suggested..

Would 2 HT2 or 2 HT4 be a better route and return the sd4?
They are an awful lot cheaper than the sd2/4 and seem they would get the job done?

Or I can get 2 ppi 900.4 for $155/each and bridged it says 450x2 @ 14.4v
That may be good as well?

I ran an HT4 on a set of Rev 8's and they scream. 300 watts to each, but that is just for 2 speakers. If you want to run 4 and get good power you would need 2 amps. For those 10's to sound good you are going to need north of 300 watts to EACH of the 4 speakers.

To get a 2 ohm load you will have to run 2 speakers off one channel(revs are a 4 ohm speaker). So then you will just be using 2 of the 4 channels and only have about 170 watts to each speaker, which isn't enough.

What would be a better bet, 2 HT4, or 1 SD2?
Comes out around the same, will most likely offer me more flexibility, but have the trouble of 2 amps.
