I thought I should post this here for the Oregon people who use the channel. There is a proposal to make over 50% of the channel "No Wake"

"Action Alert-Unprecedented Threat to Fishing/Boating-More than 50% of Multnomah Channel proposed no wake zone.
A resident at Mayfair Moorage has submitted a petition to the Marine Board that would turn roughly half of the 21-mile long Multnomah Channel into a no wake zone, bank to bank. The attached petition summary reads:
“On February 17, 2016, the Marine Board received a petition requesting that the Marine Board open rulemaking to expand the slow-no wake zones on Multnomah Channel; establish a shore-to-shore zone from 500 feet before and 500 feet after any marina, floating home moorage, park, dock, or boat launch ramp on Multnomah Channel.”

No big deal we always ride the channel but when passing floating home communities always slow down to no wake it is the respectful thing to do. Plenty of spots to ride that does not affect home owners.

All of thee floating home areas already are no wake. This goes well beyond that.

It still should not affect the ride spots. I have to agree somewhat. The channel is narrow and should be no wake bank to bank in front of floating home communities and boat ramps. The biggest offenders are the big boat owners. They put out a bigger wake than wake boats and have no courtesy or respect for others.

We have fought the Marine Board on several other "Wake Enhancing Devices" and "No Wake Zones" and been able to bring large amounts of people that completely outweighed any arguments and you will just find out they do what they want. This is Portland and as soon as they say "environmental" the city and others jump on board even if it is completely unfounded. We spent tons of time and energy on other proposals and it was exhausting. We don't ride that area, but hear it is pretty cool. Hope you guys can muster the support you need.
