Saturday I'm going to be using our newly installed perfect pass for the first time. I'm wondering what kind of speed range to expect when making adjustments. Also does anyone have any suggestions for adjusting the KDW and NN. The boat is a 1990 rinker with a 350 and about 2000 lbs of ballast.
Thanks

Be sure to take a GPS unit with you. Use this to calibrate the speed. I have a 2004 22i Tige 340 HP no ballast and I set the KDW at 150 and NN at 70. This might help get you started.

You are going to have a hard time finding someone else using perfect pass on the same boat you have.

However I would start your kdw at 180 and your nn at 110.

This gave me the best results on my old bayliner... but you have more engine, but about the same on ballast!

I would try it out as it is. Take the manual with you, and follow the instructions. Every boat will react differently due to factors such as paddlewheel alignment, prop, ect.

You may also need to install a return spring on your carb depending on how your throttle is linked. Some need it, some don't. If I remember right, the instruction manual mentions this.

Brett, I just went through this same process 2 saturdays ago. Installed PP over the winter and was anxious to try it. Bill is right, grab your GPS for the first time out. The book says to measure your speed at 20mph and adjust from there. I got the boat stable at 20MPH (as read on the GPS) and found the PP was reading 2.6 mph off. Bring the manual with you and use the calibration instructions. Piece of cake, mine is dead on now and WOW, even a total rookie at the helm will give you a GREAT pull with PP. Love that thing! Good luck.

Thanks guys. I didn't need the spring the old one worked fine. I am really anxious to start using the thing, everyone says it worth every penny.

My I/O usually stays within .2-.5 mph +-, 3400 lb stock boat weight, plus people and gas with an efi 5.0 and 19" 4 blade aluminum and 19'6" long.
