I bought a switch yesterday and wanted to see if I could hook it up like this. I would like to leave everything hooked to battery 1 just as it is from the factory. This will keep me from having to cut of the cable ends and replacing them with something that will fit on the back of the switch. The I will hook battery 2 to number 2 on the switch. If i am thinking right everything will run on battery 1 and will charge battery 1. If battery 1 dies I can switch to both and both batteries will still be connected by the common. Here is a diagram of what I am thinking. let me know.

This is how the directions show. But doing it like this will cause me to have to cut off my cable ends.

This way below is how I was thinking.

IF you leave everything hooked to batt 1 that means your HU is still hooked to battt 1= ground loop potential= NOISE.

What are you connecting to the common?

No I would not advise wiring it the way in your second picture...not good.

Adam

So should I wire everything to the common then and just have batt and hooked to their post on the switch. I have 3 small amps that need to be hooked in.
