ha, ha, ha..... Good stuff guys. So what's the consesus? Anybody going to be riding those things again or are they as gays as most of us thought they'd be?

Mike, is that a drysuit I see you in? Water temp was 65 last weekend. I'm putting off that drysuit thing for as long as humanly possible.

some of the other photos that haven't been in print yet are freakin sweet...throwin' raleys and some other things you wouldn't think could be down with skis.

those skis look difficult to get pop off the wake, but i would love to try them

those pics are sweet, if only i had a 15ft ramp in my lake!

he's doing the photo shoot for mastercraft for the boat buyer guide this week. hopefully we'll get some pics of what you can do with a nice wake.

Yeah, they look like they'd be fun off a kicker. I'll be interested to see what you can do off the wake.

I guess it's just something different. I like watching the snowskiers these days. They kill it. (I'll preface that by saying that I'd still rather watch snowboarders, but....)
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       11-01-2007, 11:22 AM Reply
Ditto. Let's see some wake tricks. Can you get height on w2w tricks? It seems like you could do some crazy trip flip (side-to-side) rolls pretty easily....again, if you can pop.

I too enjoy watching the freestyle skiers.

Haha Ya right Evan, we all know you are a skier at heart!! We all know you love to spred your legs and you get off on skis! You don't got to lie to us. Wakeboarding is just a cover up! Its cool, we can still be friends!!

Hey what guys are doing on snow skis these days is what no one that possible so maybe we could see something here. Plus Mike loves his dry suit sometimes he sleeps in it. He has been waiting all summer to put it back on.

we just tried the wakeskis for a few minutes each. it was my first time every skiing. it is really weird to pop off the wake. ive figured out that i am much more comfortable riding sideways on a board. i can see people getting into it, but its not for me.
ill stick to the skate

I have a buddy who's big into snow skiing and seeing these sure got him pumped to get out behind the boat. I think it's cool what HO has done by bringing these into the industry and I wouldnt be surprised if more companies try to follow them. Slalom skiing is kinda dead so this will freshin up thier sport for sure
Old     (jon4pres)      Join Date: May 2004       11-01-2007, 1:19 PM Reply
I just dont see how you could ever leave the wake with both feet at the same time.

I could see these things being a blast at a cable park with rails and kickers though

Its just a fad and will die out quickly!
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       11-01-2007, 4:06 PM Reply
Is it possible for something to die out before it starts?

HO sunk dough into these. You can count on crap load of marketing for the next couple of years anyway.

Can Greg Nelson shred the nar on the Wakeskis? He designed them right?

I think it would be kinda fun for a bit. But it seems like your legs would get all beat up, from the skis hitting them when you are doing tricks.

im willing to bet that in the next 5-6 years there will be a large population riding these things. its somethin different and deffinately challenging. i think its pretty cool

Ant, Myke, Mitch...looks fun, wish I wasn't the third in the other boat or I would have jumped in with you guys. I got bored doing inventory today and mounted a Cell boot onto a pair...so I'm ready to rock. It looks totally facory-used the HO baseplate and drilled holes to match the inserts on the bottom of the Ronix boots...soooo clean. Sunday it's on.

i love snowboarding and wakeboarding to death, but i still instruct snow skiing and will always ski, and i will always slalom ski (whoever said slalom skiing is dead must not be a skier...). i can see these wakeskis definitely taking off, its just another challenge for all of us to try and master. i can forsee a lot of broken ankles in these though, when each leg can go a different direction there can be serious problems lol.

They should make a slalom wakeski, widen it a bit and rotate the the bindings so they are about perpendicular to the axis. Something like that would be pretty sweet. I'll bet most people on here would love something like that.

^^^ aka a wakeboard. lol. i like it!
Old     (ironcross25)      Join Date: Jul 2006       02-19-2008, 12:14 PM Reply
I think they may catch on. It all depends on the twin tippers in the park at your local resort catching on. I am going to get a pair and check them out. If they give you a resemblance of skiing on snow than I think they will be a hit. It will be away to kepp all you muscle in check over the summer and maybe even tweak a few tricks.

Check out stereoskis.com. Looks like they are really in to rails and stuff.

I have Stereo Skis and have tried the HO wakeskis but i definitely like the Stereo best. And it is no doubt about which that are looking best.
And i just want to say that the HO wakeskis and Stereo wakeskis are not the same as the body glove "wakeskis". That body glove are making is like trick skis with tips.

Just look at snow skiing today. they have style!
wakeskiing will get the same kind of style, just like wakeboarding adapted the style from snowboard

Hello everyone. I am currently researching and preparing to buy my better half a pair of wakeski's because I know he's wanted them forever. I am however a bit confused at the difference between say a pair of Hydroslide Hoppers and the HO wake skis? Can anyone shed some light? Especially on the length difference and reasons why?

My other concern would be bindings for say a pair of HO wake ski's... do they need to be HO waterski/wakeski bindings or will other brands fit as well?

Thank you for any advice and help!!!
Old     (boarditup)      Join Date: Jan 2004       09-29-2009, 6:12 AM Reply
The hoppers are short, wide and have a lot of drag. I have a pair and do not ride them much. I also have a pair of Stereo wakeskis and they are used a lot more.

The HO pattern is almost universal for front bindings. I really prefer the Radar Rail binding for wake skis. You need an adapter plate, but they will feel familiar and take landings in the flats much better than any other ski binding out there with the possible exception of Wiley's Jump Plates.

These thing look fun. I agree with a few things. it's always great to have more toys to try to master in your boat(no hate meant here but too many boarders all they can do is board). Like old double trick skiis or our old cut down jumpers that we used to play off the wakes with(1980's)these things will bash up your ankles when crashing and with a kicker these thing would be way way fun!!!!
