Just Sold my 23' Rinker I/O. Looking at 2003-2007 wake boats now. Not in a hurry so want to find best deal.
Looking at above boats from what I've narrowed down as alternatives.
Will be using as a family boat with:
Wakeboarding
Surfing
Skiing
Tubing
Pretty much in that order....
Want a boat that will have a better ride in the chop.
Any advice and insight greatly appreciated!

Looked at them as well but usually steeper on the price. Trying to stay below $35k

Check out the Malibu Sunscape with the diamond hull. I think that fits all your needs perfectly.

http://www.onlyinboards.com/Details.aspx?ID=16632

The link is to sunscape just for reference only. See if it fits your needs. Also do a little research on the diamond hull.

Centurion Avalanche... Best bang for your buck. Have seen a few on the lake and they still throw a killer surf and nice wake. They no longer make them though If you are lucky you can find one with a switch blade installed.

Are you looking in a price range? Just curious as to why you are looking for 2003 to 2007. Automated ballast system and perfect pass system are a must. You will also find a deep V hull and a trim plate will help with your objectives also.

Sorry I missed your post on 35k. A Tige 22V or a Tige 22VE would fit the bill for you.Alot of the earlier 22 V's didn't have automated ballast, but once you get to 2006 and 2007 they are easier to find. With their Taps plate you can Ski as well as Wakeboard and Surf. You will be able to adjust your wake to your liking. They are the most fuel efficient hulls in your year range.

I have owned a centurion avalanche and now a 24v. What is most important to you? Wakeboarding or surfing? If it's wakeboarding there are better boats for the money. If it's surfing you have picked 3 great ones. The 24v is a big boat. Which I love. Both will throw some of the best waves out. For under 35k you can also add the enzo to your list. But the older ones don't surf well on the goofy side. Stay away from 2006 tige boats, they had a very crappy fake perfect pass that owners hate and can't replace. 2007 it was better.

24v- Might be one of the better surf boats ever made. Huge huge huge lockers, deep V. The wave with custom ballast is huge. The boat itself is also huge. It super tall and very roomy. They did come with ballast even in 2003, but they are more rare. 2005 is the best year for the 24v, they changed the interior and it's nicer.

22v- Same boat. Just 2 feet shorter

Avalanche C4- The C4 is a must, means wrap around seating. Great surf boat! Throws a solid goofy and regular wave. Big for a 22 foot boat. Best cooler location on any boat (in my mind) Lots of them out there. The stock 315hp motor most have isn't enough, try to find the 330 hp motor. It has lots more torque. The boats are super tall, and I live on a large lake so that is actually why I sold mine and go the 24v. We get giant rollers and freak storms that scare me. Also while heavily loaded the back corner of the boat would be under water.

Typhoon C4- Older typhoons had odd cutouts in the back and no wrap around seating, again this sucks

Here are some out there.

Site I use to search all of craigslist is www.adhuntr.com

Hope this helps, I know a lot about all the models you are looking at. I know the owner of soulcraft was selling his avalanche. Which was already setup nice with custom ballast.

Great thread! I'm interested in a Avy or Tige as well within the same price range. Which of them does better in choppy water? I'm in central Ohio and cannot find many close within my price range. Most seem around $40K-ish.

Thanks I'll do that. If I go to the Tige or Centurion site will it be a non biased discussion? They are both great boats.

Site is kind of a joke but their are allot of great info on it. You're data is limited and you can't view photos ect.. unless you are a supporting member. ... just told them that the new pickelfork front end on the new 2015s looks like a duck beack and needs to be shot..... im not the most like individual over their... LOL... here is a pick of a pink boat thats getting all kinds of praise. There was a new thread about having other boat sections ect.... got shot down like an old man in the bar trying to get laid. Im all for other brands. Allot of great boats out there that are not centurion and way better looking

I just want a deep V that is good in chop. My kids want to wakeboard and surf. I'm all for that. I'm focused on those 2 (centurions and tiges) for that reason. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I want to spend between $25-35K on my first boat.

Yep thanks. I'm watching all. Is 700 hours on a used Avy to many? How long do motors last if treated right?
Old     (cwb4me)      Join Date: Apr 2010       08-12-2014, 4:10 AM Reply
I've seen plenty of motors with 1500 to 1800 hours that haven't been rebuilt yet.
