Not me.... Everytime I see the 247LSV I get sick. Sick that I can't buy one and have it for myself.

Malibu doesn't sell that many boats anymore... not since they sold out. It's all just a myth.

HAHA. Nice BuCoo.

And, yeah, John. Those 247's are so sweet.

I am somewhat disappointed in them. I've had two, and they were both great. No problems with either one, and when a problem did arise, Malibu stepped up to the plate and took care of it.

Now, after seeing them at the boat show, I am disappointed in some of the design elements. I don't like the new windsheilds at all, I think they look cheap, and the locking mechanism on my friends boat is cheap, some clippy thing that already broke. I don't like the new towers, but I do like that there's an option. I just like some of the previous designs better. My previous boats were more posh, less bling. Just my opinion.

I love my 07 VTX, thought it looked better built and better all around than the 2010 malibus I saw at the show

That is my general consensus. My 99 seemed a little better built than my 02, and that one seemed better built than my neighbors 08.

IMO, BUs are going downhill.

I hate the current non-functional "style" molding in the hull. I prefer the clean look of yesterday's BU.

I hate the current wind shield with the "leisure suit larry" styling. I prefer the clean look of yesterday's BU.

I prefer a traditional tower that supports a massive bimini and many speakers above the bimini.

I prefer an easier to build vertical wake vs the wake that got more whimpy/rampy in 2009.

The only thing I like better about the current BU is the interior. It has a great "living room" comfort and style.

So, I really doubt I will replace my 2000 BU with a new BU.

Look at what you started Boo Coo.

Actually there are currently two hull styles of hull, the molded style is the diamond cut and has a function. IT gives the boat more lift when you don't have it weighted it gives less wake.

THe wakeboard hull isn't molded.

I'm not a huge fan of 2010 malibus, but I do think malibu has become a much better boat over the years since the 2000 models

Chris, I am talking about the above water moldings (nooks and crannies) in the hull. Maybe its for strength but my assumption was that it was for styling.

I guess its not all BUs just the flagship. Compare the VLX (moldings) to the VRIDE (clean).

I agree with you Dane. My neighbor has an 08 LXI, and it has some funky styling lines, or what ever they are. Their boat is accented by different colors there too, so it makes it even more obvious.

The Illusion tower is too low for my taste. I am 6' and it is really close to my head. I am old school and prefer the original look of towers, so that design hasn't really grown on me.

I do like the walkway across the sundeck area that has been incorporated in some of the newer boats. I do like that you can order snap in carpet now. The dash is nice looking too.

If I were in the market right now, I would probably lean towards the X-25. If I were in the market for a traditional style boat, I may go the Supra route 22 SSV, they have some nice features that I have always liked. For me, Nautiques have funky seating, and I don't like the look of the new decks, towers, or dashes. I am up in the air about MC's new dash too.

It would be hard to make a choice in today's market. All things being equal, if I were buying a new boat today, it wouldn't be a Malibu.

Yes, I like the walkway, snapin carpet and dash. However, their dash is still somewhat annoyingly high. And, their wind shield frame is right in my line of view.

We were in the market for a new boat, and we missed out on one of the last VLX's with the XS tower. Would have also bought one with the Titan tower, but none were available. We gave up on Malibu because we don't like the odd look of the new tower. Plus with how quick Malibu changes tower designs, we knew we would be unhappy if they made a cleaner design next year leaving us feeling like we settled for something we didn't really want. Worked out in the end, got a great deal on a leftover new 08 SAN.

Are you taling about on the gunnels or on the hull? The diamond cut hull can bee seen above water at points. It has a puepose, ecspecially on a LXI, where you want a good slalom run.

Yes, the notchy gunnels are fugly.

> "The outer edges of the hull – or the bow, actually – are called gunwale or gunnel."

That is the diamond cut hull, just the extension of it out of the water. The wake hull doesn't do that. It has function and is an option. It allows air to get under the hull and create less of a wake at high speed. If you don't like it get the wake hull and it's smoothe, much like the vride hull.

Before you guys post an more Miss Information about how you think you can tell if the boat has a diamond hull from the front, you should stop in at your local dealer and compare the wake versus diamond hull. WOW!!!

My beef is with the indentations infront/above the wakesetter logo in the picture below. Please tell me they are functionally significant and not just a fashion statement. If they are significant, then at least they are useful and ugly.

I'm the opposite. I think they look badass. I doubt they have a purpose other than to change the look. I especially like the way they did the graphics to match it so you can get a color to go along with the indent.

I like the look of the BU hulls too, out of the big 3 they are by far the best looking IMO. Tower and windscreen not so much.

If I were buying a boat based on looks alone, it would be the 2010 VLX. Based on any other reason, it would still be the VLX. I will be buying a new boat this year and I am seriously considering stepping down from an LSV to a VLX.....I like it that much. The bolt on speaker shelf on the new G3 tower is my only gripe.

I have to agree with David. I love the new cuts in the side of the hull. It allows you to add a different color as an accent stripe. As far as the towers changing, for years Malibu has had the Titan and the Illusion. They had to change this year because Metcraft went out of business. I was a little skeptical at first when I saw the new tower. Now that I have been around it I really like it. It has to be the strongest tower on the market. There is NO shake or rattle. The only thing I don't like is there is only one board rack option. I do not need the spinner racks and they are expensive. I really like the new fiberglass floor as well. I like the direction Malibu is going.

I just have to say, I've owned 1 brand, and worked on almost all the other brands. Malibu seems to be built the best with MC real close. What knocks MC out for me is the price tag. The Malibu's just feel more open since the helm is farther forward and there's less above your head in 60% of the boat.

David, your BU looks great. I dig the all white and the decal. Still, I would much prefer not to have that silly notch, the silly window frame and that tower that doesn't hang a bimini or speakers as well.

Dane, I have a 2009 VLX and the indentations on the side have no function as far as I can tell. From what I remember hearing in the past it came from the styling of the Corvette boat. Sorry for the disappointment. Only time I don't like it is when wiping it down, just one more bump to deal with.

I like the cut out and I like the all white! I heard they lowered the bimini in the back so the rope doesn't get hung up, but David, can people hit their heads on it or not?

I personally like the cut outs, and the look of the diamond cut hull. I'm spreadin miss information, I have a boat with the diamond cut hull, if you'd like I can take a picture of the hull and show exactly what I am talking about
Old     (wakeworld)      Join Date: Jan 1997       01-24-2010, 4:30 PM Reply
I'm 6'4", so I can hit my head on just about any bimini. However, that's how I like it. The higher you put the bimini, the less shade you get. Since the only time I stand in the boat is when I'm getting ready to ride, I prefer the bimini to be low so that I get the maximum amount of shade while I'm sitting.

Judging on looks only, I definitely think Malibu's are the sexiest boat out there (I do not own one). Dave's pic above is SIC. Personally, I like the way the graphics fit into the indentation. I like it so much, I think Dave should loan me that Wakesetter. It would fit nicely behind my rig
