Anyone know how to "smooth" voltage spikes and drops? I'm having some issues with a trim motor. Whenever the trim is used it pulls alot of power and drops voltage very low, causing some fuses to pop in acessories plugged into the cigareete lighter . Can I just add a small capcitor to the (+) side fo the cig. plug receptacle? what size? will this "smooth" the DC voltage?

Bigger battery or another battery also check your connections and cables to the trim. The battery is your best bet for a "sink" to absorb spikes

Sounds like you have a short or a bad trim motor. Low current doesn't blow fuses, excessive current draw does, but should only pop the fuse that is protecting the device with the higher then normal amp draw. A poor ground may be causing the trim pump to back-feed through other circuits.

Batteries or CAP's I dont believe will fix anything $.02

^^ I'll double check the grounds, and may upgrade them. Currently I think they are 6 guage? The motor works fine, but is drawing alot of current (must be in order to drop the voltage the way it is)
