Pioneer/Sony/Alpine/Clarion HU and Remotes

I'm going to have to swap HU's and remotes. Any advice on which one to go with. I like the fact that alpine has the new wirless ( 100feet) waterproof keyfob remotes but no LCD screen.

Hey Adam,
the latest from Clarion is pretty nice, the CMD5.
I snagged one off eBay for $250 instead of the $500 MSRP.
I'm sorry to say that it didn't fit in my boat

Adam,

I have the alpine CDA 9885 and love it. I can hook my ipod up thruogh the full speed connection or I can hook it up through RCA's and still control my playlist from the ipod. I also have the alpine wireless remotes which I don't use at all. If you do go with the alpine head unit let me know as I will be looking to get rid of my remotes and control module for the remotes. They are in mint condition.

Can you control the ipod thru the HU as well?

My Clarion XMD3 started refusing to play CDs early this year, no biggee since I use the IPOD most of the time. This winter I plan to replace it with a new head unit. This involves making a new dash plate for the remote too. The big problem is the main unit being mounted in the glove box so I need a remote with a display so I can see the mode.

I am thinking the Clarion CMD5 with the IPOD interface may get the nod. The remote matches my dash gauges, it plays MP3s, and it works with my existing H2Owaves remote. I know that Sony and Pioneer also have display remotes but they look a little clunky in the dash. I still have the direct AUX in capabilities through my EQ if I want to take a signal from another boat or hook up the ipod without the interface.

Adam I thought you could get that remote with any of the top name decks? Im sure I saw sony listed on their site. Sony is all I've ever had and its done me right. 2 Decks in 6 years and the first one came out working.
