Other great wakeboard hulls...

So I'm looking for my next boat and am wondering what hulls to narrow it down to.

I'm an intermediate (basic spin, invert) rider that really wants to progress, and want a boat that has a great reliable and known wakeboard wake. Use for boat will be 75% wakeboarding and 25% surfing.

Looking for a smaller boat 20-22, preferably smaller/lighter for towing reasons and I have a small crew.

I know the great classic hulls:
199x - 2006 Nautique 210
2002-2004 VLX or newer Vride
1998-2011 xStar/x2/x1

What other hulls from other manufacturers are some of their best (tige, centurion, supra, moomba, sanger, etc)?

Also, how do the Classic older hulls (VLX, 210, old xstar) compare to the newer crop of hulls?

all 96-2004 VLX hulls were the same, only 2001 sunsetter vlx had the diamond hull.

sanger v210 i'd put it right between the 205v and the SAN as far as wake goes, but that's just my opinion.

IMO.

BU VLX: best wake was in the mid 2000s. The earlier and later BU wakes are more rampy than I like.

CC SAN: best wake is now in the late 2000s. The earlier SAN wake while great for some is to abrupt for me.

You'll never outgrow the wake of an older Xstar/2004ishX2/or the newer X1. The better you get, just add more weight and that thing gets Huge! And has a pretty much perfect shape.

I would add also that the V210 is legendary and the V215 seems to be a huge hit from Sanger. The wake behind my DLX is Super clean and well shaped...and has the same hull (arguably) as the V210.

How do they compare with the newer hulls? No Idea. I'm still not that great of a wakeboarder with the older ones...lol

^^^ agree. My brother still has the last XStar hull before it went picklefork. That wake is incredible! I think his is a 2002 or 2003?

San 210 hull gets hip high with 3500+ lbs. Super hard and lippy. Mastercraft 205 is a little more rampy but still steep. Both get massive but the San takes less weight to get there and the deal breaker for me on the 205 was how little the interior is compared to the 210 which is already pretty small. The 210 also gets exceptional fuel efficiency. Can't really speak for the 205. Rode a Malibu and wasn't a huge fan of it. Seemed super wide and rampy. Can't go wrong with the 210 or the 205. Just comes down to wether you want a steep wake or a rampier one. I have spent many years in both boats and I would choose the 210 due to it being roomier but other than that I feel they are really close. I have ridden tons of other older hulls and never really felt anything else even came close. There is a reason these two boats are so highly sought after.

The supra 22 ssv hull was good in the early 2000s you can find them in the low 20s. We had one for about 8 years and liked it. As far as how the older hulls compare... I feel they can get just as big but older wake boats all seem steeper and narrower than new ones no matter the manufacturer. I feel my 210 the way it's loaded is very similar in size to a friends 230 I ride similary weighted but the shape is completely different.

I just recently sold an 06 vride. I'm not that good and this year I usually ran it empty and the wake was great. Add a few people and it'd just get bigger. More weight, bigger still, but my wife had a tendency to take one over the bow when running full ballast, so I tended not to go that route...

I now have an MB twb 23. the Bu was rampier, but also lippier if that can make sense. Empty it always had a lip, whereas the MB is pretty flat at the top when empty. When I've got weight in the MB it gets big and has a more straight up transition as opposed to a "lip".
