I've been riding the potomac this summer (the cove on the MD side under the 295 bridge) and hit lake anna a couple times. The cove is nice, but you gotta catch the tides if you don't want to go through 2 props and a rudder :-(. Lake anna is a dream, but w/ 95 traffic, it takes 2-3 hrs to get there. Any other suggestions? Also, if anyone wants a pull through the end of the season, get in touch!

Wade

Lake Anna is definately the best place and pretty much the only place to ride, its not that bad traffic usually if u leave early, or go early on weekends.

Lake anna is pretty good, if not on the weekends, Some riding up here off the rivers of the chesapeake can be good. I know a couple of us ride her here. Severn river, magothy, patapsco.. Hit us up if your ever up this way.

This is probably a shot in the dark, but is there anybody with a boat looking for a third today (9/14) near Potomac? I'm in town (DC) on business and I don't know anybody or the area. I don't have my board with me, but I have gas money. ;) Also are there any board shops in the DC area?

I drive by that bit of the potomac where the Georgetown boat house is every morning on the way to work. I don't think I have ever seen anything choppier than a ripple there. I know there is deep enough water around there because I see 40' boats anchored in there all summer. I have never seen any boarding in there but that place is both beatutiful and traffic free most days. There are also a few boulders around there which would make for some great obstacles. That is a dream spot if it is possible to ride there.

I know a guy from Damascus who rides in Hagerstown by Dam 4 who has riden there and says it was good. He and the drive-by team were doing wall starts on the wakeskate over by the mall as well with the Coast Guard just hanging out watching them like they were putting on a show.

Chase, I agree that would be a great place to ride, but I think everthing upstream of the Memorial Bride is a no wake zone.

Wakedog - You would know better than me. But I checked the charts and it is definately deep there. One spot is 75' in the NOA Charts.

You should have seen it this morning! High tide at 8am those boulders were just about 2-3' above the water line. Total glass and the Georgetown girls rowing team out there. I've had the privledge of seeing them jog by one time when I was having luch at Sequoia and they are hot chicks no doubt.

If it is no wake i'm willing to give it a go and get a warning just for the photo op.

Wade - I'm up for a pull anytime except Monday and Wednesday nights. (I relieve my wife from baby duties those nights).

Paul...sorry I missed you on the 14th...I was off on my honeymoon...if you're ever back in town, I'm happy to give you a pull.

On a side note, Chase and I hooked up yesterday for a killer session...any other potomac riders welcome. PM me.

EDIT: IMO lake anna is crap if you don't hit it by the crack of dawn. The wakeboarders out there are good boaters, but the pleasure cruisers and the families on jetski really need to show some respect to the other people on the lake.

Lake Anna is only good during the week, During the weekend, I will admit it is bad, But Monday-Friday, it is pretty much glass the whole day as long as you go to the spot. :-)
