MXZ 22 with standard HP

I want to see what everyones thoughts are on the MXZ 22 with the standard 350 HP engine?

What is it capable of with that engine for adding any extra ballast? I believe with the 4 tank stock system the stock ballast is 1300 lbs

It seems people are running a lot more weight than that in 350hp x-stars, axis's, etc... with no issue. Just looking for some feedback if there is any major negativity on that same HP in the MXZ22.

Just out of curiousity, anyone know what the 6.0 liter engine upgrade costed on a 2012 MXZ22?

I have a MXZ 22 with a 350. I run Stock ballast with plug and play 750s on both sides of the motor and about 5-600lbs of lead in the walk way. With the stock prop it was a little sluggish when the boat was packed with people(15-18 second plane-out), but with the 15x12 prop it is no problem (8 second plane out). I could easily go way heavier.

The engine upgrade is a nice feature, but not required. The right prop will go a long way.

What Justin said, you will want to reprop. I was on one last year that had 1000lb lead up front + plug and play and 6 people, the driver had to dump ballast to plane. When I asked he said the prop was "whatever comes on them".

I personally wouldn't doit, but I'm above 5280 in alt. My VTX has the 340, and we have to dump to get on plane when running heavy. Demo'd a 22 mxz with the 410 and it struggled with weight as well. Spent the last weekend on an LSV with 15 people in it and 3000+ in ballast wiht the 450 that had zero issues at that weight

Malibu offers a new Torque Prop which it sounds like Justin has discovered. Word is, the new prop makes up for a lot of horsepower (or lack of).

Justin, I'm happy to see that we're running similar weight configurations. It looks like you also have no weight in the front of your MXZ 22? We run everything in the back, with weight no further forward than the walk through. A few weeks ago the front tank wouldn't fill which ended up being a good thing for us. The wake grew another few inchs.

Someone said that Amber Wing and Soven both slammed the nose of their MXZ22s. Our experience was that the wake flattened out and got really wide. However, on the Delta where the average depth is close to 15 feet, boats sometimes perform differently.

He's what we are currently producing. Rider is 6 feet tall.

By the way, we have the LS3.

What's The Part # of This prop? Who Makes It?

I had a VLX last year and always needed weight up-front. I rode Sock + 400 on each side of the motor + 4-500lbs lead mid ship and at least a half-filled 750 in the bow. I was also riding 24.5 @ 80ft.

I was surprised to find that the MXZ really likes weight more toward the rear. I'm also riding 23.5 @ 75ft behind it and going bigger than I ever have in my life. In general, I have really enjoyed the step from VLX to MXZ. The wake is overall bigger, but I really feel like I can have a long transition that finishes strong where the VLX was kinda either/or. The Surfgate is a really cool trick too. I'm not much of a surfer (wake surfer) and it easy when someone wants to surf. You don't need to mix up the rotation, just flip a few switches.

I hate the # system for props. It is a 15 x 12 Acme. I know they are a bit behind on production. If it is not in-stock it is a few weeks wait.

Trever is running Acme 15 X 12.75. Everyone is saying this is the miracle prop.

Prior to having MXZ, we ran the LSV which also liked a sack or two in the nose. It's strange to me how the MXZ is configured with everything pushed back, and yet it still wants weight in the rear. It's nice not having sacks block the walk through and bow though. I'll take it.

Is he also running the LS3? What is his top end with this prop if so? Used to not care, but trips to big lakes tend to be nicer when you can break the 40mph mark

The prop is an acme 2315

The 15" prop you will want to run on the MXZ is either the ACME 2315 or 2313. They are the same size and pitch, but have a different cup. I ran it last year on my MXZ with the 410hp engine and it made a huge difference over the ACME 1235. This year I got the LS3 450hp engine, and with the 2315 on it, it is a beast. I haven't ran into a situation where I couldn't get on plane. I'm running stock ballast, 750s in the rear, 500 in the aisle way, 1000 up front and have gone with 8 people in the main cabin. The wake is ridiculous!

P.S. Amber rides with the wedge at the 3rd or 4th click. It makes the wake a lot steeper, but it can get a little too lippy behind 77' or so. 2 clicks of wedge and you can ride back to 82'.

I'll ask you the same question, what speed are you topping out at with the 450 and 2315?

42mph on the GPS speedo.

We wakeboard at 23.6-23.8mph when fully weighted and I'm at 4100rpms.

Not bad at all. The LSV we were on with the LS3 and 1235 was topping out at 43.5. It had zero problems planing out with 3k in ballast, or 14 people and 2250lbs, at alt. Love that engine.
