I saw this on Foilforums and thought I'd throw it on here, looks like some great deals on Helium vests and handles.

http://www.stearnsflotation.com/Mens...Vests-C34.aspx

I'm not affiliated in any way, just passing on a good deal...

Awesome, I've been thinking about getting a CGA vest for cable. 2 Questions:

1. I'm looking at the Division CGA or SWAT CGA...How do they compare? From my search the SWAT is highly suggested but haven't read anything about the Division.

2. Sizing: How do these run, I have a medium Oneil Gooru that fits pretty well, but the helium appears to have slightly smaller sizing dimension. I'm 6'0, 165 and 32-33 waist, not sure my chest.

thanks... picked one up.

I've personally never used one, but for the prices they're selling them for, I thought what the hell...

The Cascade Wake Vest looks to be the only one with sizing info.
Sm 32-35
Med 36-38
Lg 38-40
XL 40-44

So I'm assuming they'll all be the same.

Ray, I'm 6'1", 155 lbs, and have a 31" waist, and I wear a medium SWAT. It fits me well, but I wouldnt want to be any bigger when I wear it, as it starts to feel tight if I wear a wetsuit under it. If you are a relatively lean guy you might be ok with a medium, but if you have a bit of a chest on ya, probably go with a large.

I got one for me and 2 for my daughters. It has always been painful that I have a compartment full of black life vests and it makes it hard to find mine. Not anymore with the bright green Voodoo I just ordered. Thanks for the great deal!

For me it is as simple as the zipper not being under you chin. I have both and zipper in the front aggravates the s@#t out of me. Just my personal preference.
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       04-19-2010, 6:23 AM Reply
to me, it smooths out the front, and gets the buckles on the side. Also allows to position the foam in more comfortable and larger spacing areas

What size vest should I order? I am 6'0" and 215lbs athletic type build and a pretty good looking face (napoleon dynamite). I have an el cheapo neoprene vest right now that is an XL but it is a little loose. Should I go with an XL or L? Thanks for the help
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       04-19-2010, 1:33 PM Reply
I'm 5'7" 165 and am in between a med and large. Have a large, just bought a med since they were so cheap to see the difference. These are longer than some others, so with your height you should be okay.
I am referring to the Paisley CGA.

I would say XL

Chest

DBDan, thanks for the hook-up. Ordered one for me, one for the wife, and one for my daughter. My son will be disappointed, but he's already got so many, I couldn't think of buying him another, even at these prices.

Also, side entry is nice, just a bit more comfortable than having the zipper right in front.

My pleasure! Now I only wish I was affiliated and getting a kickback...damn!

I bought two for me, one for my wife and one for each kid, plus a rope and some dock lines. What else are tax returns for?

The good thing is there are so many people buying vests on here, that if you bought one that doesn't fit, there's a good chance you can trade with someone else for the right size!

Damn. Now I need to change the size. This should be fun. Looks like it's coming from Coleman.
Old     (helinut)      Join Date: Apr 2007       04-20-2010, 7:47 AM Reply
Dang it. They already started processing it in shipping. Guess I need to put all that weight back on to fit in to the van Helium I have coming. Wish they had posted the sizes directly on the site.

Actually now that I think about it, if it doesn't fit I'm sure I could sell it to one of the many people that I ride with. Ahh... now I feel better.

have any of you actually received shipping confirmations yet? i have tried to call them three times to get an update and was left sitting on the phone for 30 minutes each time and have not talked to a person there yet. i ordered mine Monday and have already been charged for it. just wondering if they were going to ship them soon. would not have bought one if i had to wait a couple of weeks for it. i need mine for the weekend.

^^^^ I received a shipping confirm

Ronnie-They sent me an email with all the conformation info in it the same day. Evidentally mine is on its way. I also emailed the customer service center and they sent me an email back within the day. I'll agree...the phone situation sucks!

Man, dont start this. You got me scared. I got an order confirmation, clicked the link, registered and its telling me my email address doesnt have any orders attached to it. I'll have to check and see if they charged me already. Hopefully we all don't end up screwed on this deal.
Old     (slidin_out)      Join Date: Apr 2010       04-21-2010, 1:43 PM Reply
i got a confirmation and on their site it just simply says payment received, no shipping confirmation, no email reply from them, not chit!!!!
Old     (craig_xti_88)      Join Date: Apr 2009       04-21-2010, 1:46 PM Reply
Charles-Did you do the "Quick Check-Out" without registering? I did so and nothing showed up when i tried to log in. However, about an hour after I ordered they sent me a separate conformation email. As of this morning it had tracking numbers on it.
Old     (dbdan)      Join Date: Jun 2009       04-21-2010, 2:01 PM Reply
I got order confirmations on all three orders I placed. (I originally bought two for me. Then I found the womens and kids vest so placed another order. Then after reading on here the sizes weren't the same for the different style vests, I ordered one more in the correct size...) They all have a link where you can check the status of your order. So far about half of the things I've ordered have been shipped. If they were shipped via UPS, they even have a tracking number.

I also found another forum where people were buying these vest like crazy and a bunch of people had received them already. So I don't think there will be an issue with getting the vests, it's just going to be a toss up whether they're the right size or not...I

'm guessing there's going to be a lot of Helium vests on different Craigslist sites all over the country...

Oh, and I believe Craig is right, if you ordered using without setting up an account the first time, orders won't show up after the fact.

mine simply says "In Process" right now, just get kind of worried when I buy something and it doesn't ship that day or the next
Old     (wakeborder5)      Join Date: Jun 2002       04-21-2010, 2:09 PM Reply
Yeah, I called to try and add a few of those docking lines to my order but after 15 minutes or so of waiting, the lady informed the status of "in distribution" meant that it was in line to be filed, but too late to be changed or cancelled or something of that nature. You get what you pay for haha

i'm cool with it as long as it will likely come in next week, when i can't reach anyone for help it perturbs the chit out of me, hopefully it will ship tomorrow then, on a side note and not to detract from the subject at hand but buywake.com is awesome, called and left a message and they called back within 5 minutes, took care of an RMA, shipped out a larger size vest the same day for me so i could have it by the weekend, first class place, just saying, now i hope i get my pimpin' yellow preppy vest by next week sometime from Stearn's

I ordered mine last Monday (L paisley SWAT CGA) and got it this Monday. Fits perfect!!! I am in AZ. Not sure how long they will take to get out to everyone, but hopefully this takes some of the fear out of their lack of communication.

I ordered two vests at the same time. One shipped the next day, the other is still sitting there waiting to ship after 3 days. No biggie, just hope it ships soon. I'm worried about the sizes though. I think the XL's I bought will be too big. Should be able to unload them though and buy the right size pretty easily.

Mine showed shipping from Minnesota. That was one of the vests. I called on the other and it sounds like it's coming out of a different warehouse, 4 days after the first one shipped.

From what i have been able to find it is. Now just trying to decide I am a 39 inch chest so right between large and XL damn it.

i ordered a van helium medium. it came in today. nice and thin and contoures great. but fits much too loose in the chest. i have a 37" chest. online it said med. was for 36-38. when i got the vest today its printed on there as 36-40. chest area is very loose. im pretty bummed. maybe i can suck down the ab straps and keep it from riding up. but that will make deep breathing more difficult while riding.
im coming from a front zip/buckle Slippery vest. medium as well.

Just got my Helium Division Diamond Tuck. I must say; I am impressed. I got a large and it fits perfectly (it says 38-40" inch chest, I have a ~42" chest.). Also, it is super thin and comfy!

How thin are some of these jackets? I hate Bulky jackets! Good motion and everything? Never had a helium jacket.

I got the Van Helium in today...not impressed at all! Fits terribly and doesn't conform to the body. Maybe its me but it seems extremely bulky.
I guess $30 isn't to bad for an extra boat jacket. Ordered a handle as well...hopefully it turns out a little better.

Cory- I have the exact same problem

Great to hear Mike! What size chest do you have and what size did you get? I ordered the large Van Helium and I have a 42-43 chest so I'm hoping it fits right. Anyone get the youth vests? I ordered the Voodoo Youth for my son. I hope it matches his new LF Nemesis wakeboard.
