And I was really disappointed. My boat, 06 Calabria Pro V with the stock ballast (350# per side rear). I get a better wave with port tank full and an adult sitting in that corner. Any ideas on how to improve the wave? Maybe add front ballast? I had the SWELL about 3" under the water line and at the back of the boat- surfed at 11mph but couldn't let go of the rope- seemed like there was no "push"

That is hardly any weight. You need a lot more. At least a thousand more to get good push.

Steve, you need at least 1,000 pounds. I put about 800 in the back and about 400 up front. My boat sits pretty low, and is an older 97 Sanger, so 1200 lbs just about maxes the thing out before it can sink haha.

Per rear side i would go up to 500.

yup, need a LOT more weight. at least slow down some until you get the weight where you need it. try 9.5 or so.

bring 10 friends with you so you can see its potential. then start buying sacks! not familiar with Calabria ballast setup, but I bet wakemakers can point you in the right direction. I think a couple guys have them setup right, so maybe start a thread on maxing the boat out.

I have a 2002 PRO-V....tanks full .and I have 750 bags in the lockers.....400 pounder under appropriate side seat...and 600 in the walkway up front with a nauticurl....so about 3200 pounds does pretty well.
