First ride of the season went great. The next day, fever, body aches from hell, head pounding. One other person that rode came down with the same thing. You guys think it was the lake or just a coincidence?
They say after a large adrenaline rush or spontaneous exertion on the body your immune defenses can reduce. Maybe one day it will warm up down here it is still 32 in Georgia right now! However, if I rode today I would definitely wake up tomorrow with a cold.
Was it cold? If it was cold and you are exerting yourself, it can run you down pretty quickly. Chances are, you got exposed to something and after the day out, your immune system was down and it took over. I am no doctor though.
+1 on the body aches...first season ride was sunday and im aching a little. My Knee is really killing me so it either means its going to rain (thanks to my lovely knee surgery), or its that first season ride ache...We rode in 58 degree water and I dont feel sick, just a little aching...the cold water will zap your energy for sure too..
^yep. there's something going on there if both of you are sick.
Usually happens later in the season when surface water temps get higher, junk will start growing at the surface. Gets in your sinuses and give a nice little infection. But thats definitely not the case here. There's something in the water making you sick.
same thing happened to me when i rode in the ditches on march 16th, it wa slike 60 degrees here in MN, and a pant load of snow was melted, so we shredded al afternoon, but i was in bed for about 20 hours the next day. well worth it.
