My old boat.... a 94 205. I added the tower, stereo, heater, 800 lbs of ballast, modified the rear seat so it doubled as a sun deck, Traxxed the swimstep, and racked up over 700 hrs on it.

The tower came off of a '05 211. I guess they went through a low clearance drive thru and scratched it up on the top and threw it on ebay. I cut out 10" of the tower where you attach the rope and welded new feet on the back supports that attach to the boat. Turned out better than I could hope for.

My 87 SunSport. Fresh Air Exhaust, a new floating bimini (not pictured), more boardracks, and 1400lbs ballast all hidden have been added since these pics. Well except the surfing pic.

Total of four bags for boarding (one under sundeck, one under rear seat, two under open bow), then for surfing we drain the bow starboard bag and fill a bigger 680lb bag on the port rear floor.

Next year adding a new prop 13.25" x 10" and budget stereo overhaul (KMT600+1sub).

I think the wake is great but then again I dont ride behind newer boats. Minneapolis, MN whatcha think for my first inboard! Been riding at least 12 or more years and first freaking inboard good god.

'99 CC Pro Air w/Python(big block chevy) ~1500# auto ballast, perfect pass and tower bimini. We can surf with only the driver, but more people makes the wave shape/size better. Great boat that has kept us happy for 4+ seasons...
BTW Dave^ what lake in BC is that? Beautiful! How cold is the water during the season??

Nick, what's your setup for 3k in weight on switches? I have an 00 vlx and right now I am running 750's in the rear (that fill to maybe 600 at most), a 750 in the bow (again filled to 600-ish), a 350 locker sack and some lead. Are you running a fourth sack in the seating area?

That's Chilliwack Lake.

It's glacier fed so even in the height of summer it's still quite chilly. This was the first time I had ever ridden there. We usualy ride on another lake which is half an hour closer to my house then this lake. Will be going back to Chilliwack lake next year for sure....no body rides there. It's only people fishing.

Nick, do you dip the nose when you come off plane with that G in the nose? Right now when I get greedy and have close to a G in the nose it dips about 1 inch under water coming off plane as the backwash lifts the rear of the boat.

Keep me posted on your install information too. I am curious where you ran your lines for that seating area sack as I have been debating adding another sack as well. (I have 4 sacs on pumps right now, plus a bit o lead).

I assume your running either the acme 1235, OJ 475 or something more aggro?
Old     (nick_in_ssp)      Join Date: Aug 2006       11-07-2008, 4:51 PM Reply
Never have dipped the nose, but back wash comes up on to the sun pad. I'll get some pics of the boat with sacs full tomorrow. I pull the throttle to neutral as soon as I see the rider fall. I am running the Acme 537. M-Dizzle you emailed me about the prop when I bought it. I got it from a guy here on WW for $225 shipped. It was a great upgrade from what I had 14x18 3 blade. I will not upgrade as I am very happy with the 537 on it now.

Al Carlaw (ally505),
where in Europe do you live? Love the Audi wagon tow vehicle! Is that an A4? Does it tow the boat ok? What size ball can you get for that car? I've seen the Euro balls/hitches, and they are one piece (at the least the few that I've seen).

Jack, I live just near to loch Lomond in Scotland. You cant ge the US 2" hitch over here very easily but the 50mm ball works just fine. Yeah, it is a diesel A4 Quattro pulling the boat, more than enough power just over geared to pull it up the launch ramp , it would be much easier if it had an auto box (but less fun to drive)

OK, so I never got out this last weekend but here are some pics of my ballast system. All pumps are Tsunomi T-1200 and the bags on the sides of the motors are the Fly High #750's. My malifold is under the engine on the right side of the engine and it is a 5 pump fill. My drain line and overflow line go to the T then out thru the side.

First is the ski locker. The next pic I moved my stereo to the glove box and put the switches in its place under the arm rest. Last one is where I ran the hoses by the tranny and along the gas tank under the floor.

First pic is for surf sac(SS on the switch) fill in front of the back bench seat. Quick attachment for Fly High sacs. Next is an in line pump under the passenger seat for the bow sac. I put that there because I thought it would help with fill time, it is about 15' of hose from the manifold so it pushes pretty good coming out of the quick connect. Third pic is about 2' of hose from the pump to were it goes to the walkway fitting. Last pic is were I connect the quick connect to the bag I put in the bow. For wake boarding it is the Fly High #1000 triangle and for surfing it is a #440 on the surf side. For the bag in the bow I still drain it with a detachable Tsunomi pump but the others I only flip a switch. I fugure I am runnig just shy of #3000 pounds of water for boarding and then also for surfing. I am very pleased how it turned out and am very happy with it. I have no idea how I lived without it for so long, I used to fill and drain the same set up with two tsunomi pumps that would take what seemed like for ever.

Looks good Nick. So when you are wakeboarding do you fill up the bow, locker, trunks and a seating area sack (with that last line)? Right now I am running the same 750's in the back, a 750 in the bow, 350 in the locker (all it holds from my research) and about a G of lead. It looks like you custom fabbed a plywood bow area which is funny since I did the same. When I get a chance I will snap some pics.

Also on the prop situation, I found that my 537 was nice but with that much weight became a real dog (I am running a higher rear ratio if your filling that 1k up in the bow...most of my lead is in the back). I ended up with the OJ 475 and found that I lost maybe 1mph on the top end but picked up a TON of pull on the low end. Where is the waterline on yours fully weighted? Mine puts the waterline just covering the tops of the D-rings in the rear and the bow ring in the front. I am really curious about how ours compare since your the first person I have talked to with the same setup. I think I tach around 3500-3700 at 26mph and ride anywhere from 80-85ft depending on how many peeps are with us.

M-Dizzle, I only fill the 4 bags and do not put any on the floor for wakeboarding. Usually the triangle bag in front is filled all the way,but sometimes when I ride I like to dump 1/4 of the weight. I love having the plywood up front rather than the seat cushions, just makes things so much easier. I don't think mine sits as low in the water as yours, top of the d rings are like 8" above the platform, I remember about 5-6" of water over the platform at most. I'll have to get some pics this weekend of the water line, the wake, and with sacs full.
