I am 6 ft 7 inches and 325lbs and started wakeboarding last summer. It took forever to get up and I am pretty athletic. I just got good enough to get about 2 ft of air on the wake and found out I am on a 190lb board! What is the best board out there for my size and I just want to be able to get some big air and do some tricks without breaking my knees in half. Plus my bindings are too tight...any suggestions would be helpful!

im 6 ft 3 210, i think im tall but i dont got anything on you! you def. gotta get a board at least 145 cm. just try hyperlite they make the Marek in a 146 i think. that board is pretty costly though.

A 190lb board? What?

I would look for something that is just HUGE in overall surface area. Off the top of my head I would look at the slingshot response 145 or LF trip 146. Both boards are about as long as you can get, and are really wide so you will have as much surface area as possible to get you some air and keep you stable.

It is more about surface area than length. I ride the Gator Legend 145 currently which is a pretty big board but I think Hyperlite makes a 147cm board.
I am only 6'2" 225lbs but could probably stand to ride a bigger board also.

You gotta get something that you feel comfortable riding. Try a bunch of them. I ride like 3 different boards.

thanks guys..i will try to get one off of ebay. I have some videos of me riding if anyone wants to see my big butt get pulled. I wonder if hyperlite or any of the manufactures would help me out if they knew bigger guys were trying to ride???

Faction 144, kink 146, One 146. The kink is nice because it has those plates under the bindings for big guys with big feet! I think if your looking for a good solid board and binding set up for a good price i would go with the kink.

That would be one huge faceplant from 6'7"

Big guys have to pull faster. I rode with a guy who was about 6'-3"...and about 240#. He HAD to pull at least 2 mph faster to keep the water hard enough to keep his board riding high enough to act right. At your size...you may have to tow faster still. Scary...but that is kind of the way it is....

But for inspiration...watch this till the end. 'Big Spence' is close to 300#+...and he does a flat 3 using a wrapped handle!

I'm 6'2" 220lbs and went from a 142 gonzales to a 146 hyperlite marek this season and i noticed a HUGE improvement in my ability to land tricks. I felt like i would dig into the water to much when landing on the 142 board. IMOHO the larger the board you can ride the more pop and the softer landings you will have.

^^^ 230, 240...this guy is in a whole differnt league...hes got 100# on you. Bottom line, companys don't make boards designed for riders who weigh anywhere colse to 325#. Try the biggest one you can find.

Consider bolting bindings to a sheet of plywood. I ride a 144, and youve got a hundred pounds on me. Even with a 146, its going to be as if I was rising a 120. Guess youll be riding a few MPH faster to compensate.

im weightin 270 and my watson 142 drag me deep in the water so please take something over 145 just my .02 cents

I have looked around a little bit and by the looks of it the LF trip 146 will be the best bet. Its actually 146.60cm so its closer to a 147 anyway. It's the biggest board out there in terms of surface area. There are very few boards that are wider than 45cm and this one is.

Watched you video, your wake needs some help. It’s all washed out on the port side, and its weenie. A larger wake will give you more pop along with a new larger board. Work on your edging and stand tall off the top of the wake.

Hyperlite makes a 147... don't remember which model it is, though.

Sine builds custom-tailored/sized boards. Not cheap at $750, but that'd be your best bet at your size...

I watched Brant's link and, I think 'Big Spence' deserves more exposure, a section of his own.

Check out his fireman's roll going to a board in the neck.

Hyperlite's three largest boards by surface area:

1. Murray 145 876"
2. Marek 146 866"
3. State 145 852"

Of these boards the State 145 has the lowest price.

Liquid Force trip 146 surface area = 1,025"

Wait no blonde moment, length multiplied by mid width doesn't give you the surface area if the tips are skinnier. But the trip is longer and wider than the murray so I think that's what you should get. They are pretty reasonably priced too

I just started wake boarding myself and have a LF Trip 146! It really gets up on top of the water and goes.I weighed about 290 when I started and am down to 270. I rode my buddys HL 143 and the difference compared to my Trip is night and day. I also ride faster than my other friends,I like 22mph and my friends like 20mph better which sucks for me cause the wake is better at 20mph.

slingshot response 145

6'4" 255lbs

It helped me conquer w2w

I will agree with the above post, you have to be pulled like 2mph faster, I have been riding at 24mph. It has made a big difference, except when I eat it!!

i love 20mph and yes my wake needs the balast filled. I have a ski nautique 206 limited with a tower. The boat pulls fine and with 1000lbs in the back the wake goes from 10 inches to 2 ft. I will probally go with the trip. Does anyone have one for sale? I also want a closed boot in a size 15.

I love the guys that are 220lbs comparing themselves to the guy who's 330.

That's like a teenageer who's 110 lbs coming in recommending the same board he rides to a guy who's 220.

haha its kinda what i was thinking about the size thing. but its OK! I like all the input. I actually started on a board and bindings combo i got from walmart it was a 134. It took about 100 times to get up throughout 3 months. I need bindings!!!! call it a size 16 foot!

I called hyperlite and told them it would be a good idea to be the first to make a board to support a 300lb person. They laughed and said i would have to be really good to have them sponsor....How the hell can i get good if Im riding on a small board?! Hopefully someone will pick up on this deal.

I will post more videos this weekend including my 180 attempt.

6'3 Been as much as 350lbs now rolling 280. Still flipping and spinning a few times a week. I have lost more tricks than I currently can do. Rocking the HL Marek which has been the best board I have ever rode. I normally go through 5-30 boards a season and now I am down to 2 a season. Super fast, responsive and great pop.

Adam keep up the good work big fella.IMPO there are alot of gains to be made in your wake.I dont care how big of a board your riding that wake is holding you back big time.I do agree the bigger the board the better and with a size 16 shoe good luck with that.try a xxl cwb zeus I put these on and they swallowed my size 11 foot.I really think you will like the cwb with the hinge with you size foot you are going to need all the help you can getting in and out of the boot.I know your foot has to be going numb only a few minutes into a set.

I'm not as big as you boys, 6'3" 210, but I always wonder when somebody's gonna buck up and make a bigger board. It's nice to see some pro models coming in a 146 now (Marek, One, etc), but I think something even a bit longer would be killer.

My biggest problem is I never feel the stance is wide enough for my long legs. It's easier to style things out with a wide, low, knees bent stance. I would argue safer too cause you don't tend to land straight legged.

Two weeks ago I blew my ACL riding a spare board (05 LF Subjekt) cause I had broken my Witness 144 (best board ever) the week before. I think part of the problem might have been that I had newer LF boots with the smaller plates that don't allow you to stance all the way out on boards older than 08. Came down out of a roll to revert with front leg straight and it just folded to the inside...

Tall guys need the stance width, big guys need the surface area. I'm talking something snowboard long.... You listening LF? hook us up with a Witness 148 or 150!!!

I've seen Buffalow ride by our boat a few times and it's sick! You should put some footage up. I also heard you broke a tower or two.

I'm only 6'0", 6'2" if i don't comb my hair but i weigh 340. I ride a 147 Hyperlite ERA, I've got the W2W down no problem and have been working on inverts. Biggest help i found was riding at 23-24mph. Makes a huge difference going faster.

My buddy Gary Perry is a big boy too, pushing the 300# mark and he busts flips and air raley's, did a sick crypt tuesday on the Dirty D. From watching him ride I have found theres nothing a skinny guy can do that us big boys can't. We just need a bigger board, more speed, and a good wake!

We have a friend that rides with us that is 6'5 and 325 pounds- he rides a custom-made 152. The guy is defies all sense of gravity and physics... he throws raleys and crypts like they're roll overs. :-) (and he's GREAT to have in the back of the boat-- the wake is INSANE with him in the boat!) I have to pull him faster (I want to say almost 25mph?) Just make sure your driver knows how to drive thru your jumps and you'll do great (perfect pass had a tough time for some reason).

Hyperlite used to make the 3DS in a 147. Not sure if they still do, but worth lookin into. The only prob like you are finding out is that it still might not be suited for your size. I'm 5'9" 210 and hyperlite recommended I get the 147,so like many are saying 210 and 325 are no where near the same ball bark. I opted for the 143 though and I like the way it rides so maybe the 147 will suit you...

i went with the liquid force trip combo as posted by a member on here. The guys over at perfski.com were awesome! So hopefully next weekend i can show some more videos with the new board. Ps does anyone have a 500-1000lb fat sack they want to sell?

i am 225 and 6'2 and wear a size 17 shoe.. i ride a slingshot response 145? and use a liquid force transit magnum binding i think they are 2 years old.. in a size xxl.. still tight on the sides of the foot, but in my experience get something with laces anything that stretches wont stretch far enough. laces seem the way to go. i spoke with a guy from grizzly sports at the time i bought my bindings and those he said were the largest they had.

ok update...I went out riding on my 140 board yesterday and took 2 NASTY falls one while attempting a 360...My question is how well would a helmet and mouth piece work for protection from nasty headaches and also how many wear helmets while attempting tricks as a new boarder?
