Got mine today, hope to have them installed this week.

The lady I bought them from has some more.

If you contact her and ask for the buy it now price. That price should be cheaper than they are selling for.

Maybe this helps someone else.

I bought mine from her and they are pretty awesome. I bought them off her outside of Ebay too and have been emailing her to buy more but she is pretty bad at communication. I got mine but it took a little while and was a little frustrating that I paid for something and never heard from the seller until I threatened legal action.

looks cool... i'd like to see some pics too.

Hate, I HATE dealing with people that are piss poor communicators with a PASSION! I'd rather just pay more money.

She communicated fine with me. and sent them really quick.
I paid Friday and received them on Monday.

that is so F'N cool... i wonder how much of the cool factor is lost if you are on a very murky body of water?

are those in the transom, or mounted onto the swim deck?

Are these the EXACT same LED lights pictured on the Mastercraft boats.

Paul's Xstar had a rear facing light. I dont know if it was a LED or not but it Lit the hell out of the water. It was a blue light ad it was bright as hell.
The traditional down facing swim platform LEDs are a joke IMO lots of work to do them right and not even as much light as what's pictured above.
I think 1 bright rear facing LED will work way better than many down facing LED's

Do you mount them to the hull or the swim deck ?

Do you know if they make them in green ?

They penetrate up to 30' for me on my lake it's about 12'-15' or 30 or so feet of the white wash. I don't have any pic's but they look sick and are very bright. They are mounted to the transom and it is very easy drill a hole for the wire patch with 3M 5200 and mount 3 screws. They draw like 1 amp!

She is a very nice lady but never returned email's she finally called and I got them ok it was just frustrating.

Here is the ones I have. Tige uses these. They do one from the factory, I had them add the second one. They are from Pyramid Technologies. http://www.pyramidtech.com/

Called Sea Blaze. They are super bright. I wish I had some pics of them on at night in the water. They are more white. But those MC's look great with the blueish tint!

Do you guys wire these up with your anchor light or are they on their own switch/relay?
Old     (bill_airjunky)      Join Date: Apr 2002       08-19-2008, 3:47 PM Reply
The PO of my boat had wired some interior LEDs on their own (factory) accessory switch. I just spliced into that circuit. So the entire circuit consists of like 20 LEDs, plus two transom fixtures with 6 LEDs in each.

Mounting them consisted of drilling 6 holes, 2 for wires & 4 for screws, all filled with white bathtub caulk.

What kind of lights are those on the Malibu?

$200 shipped.

Good price... I think I paid about $240.

Not sure what brand of lights they are. Their stock in 2008 & 2009. Your local Malibu dealer should be able to get them for you. Probably for less money now.

She told me the same thing meanwhile I bought them off her the first time for $120 shipped. I didn't tell her who I was this last time I emailed her. She replied quickly for the $200 then I reminded her that I got them for the cheaper price last time and I haven't heard back. $200 is still a good deal they retail for $210 each.

Why not use these at a fraction of the price?

http://www.oznium.com/marine-led-light

The only drawback I see it the housing is made of aluminum instead of SS, so it may not last as long in saltwater/brackish water conditions, but at that price you could buy tons of them for replacement when they deteriate.

Where or how would you rout the wires? I would be nervous about drilling a hole in the transom of my boat. But it is my first boat and i'm always scared of doing something wrong to it.

Brian You can alwasy do the "Tricky Dicky"

You can take the positive 12v lead and wire it to one side of boats platform bracket (thats on the inside or your boat. (do the same with the neg) Then you can grab power from the swim step as it makes contact. You can see some pictures of my swim step. Looks how my swim step is getting power off the brackets One side Pos and one side neg. I also thought about adding one of the transom lights to the swim step (facing backwards) It could be mounted to the swim step making it so that you dont need to drill into your transome. "ooo Wait". That would be a usfull product! We dont need that! instead what the wakeboard indusrty needs is another tower speaker or wakeboard handle

I have done what's pictured above but the light only shines about 2' out because the light is going down into the water. Still looks great but doesn't project out like the Abyss lights would.

I ordered from Oznium first, I got some floods, and some spots. Both are very bright. I was goin gto do a combo of two floods, and two spots. The main problem I see is that the wires come out of the aluminum housing on the side. you would have exposed wires, and you need to seal where they come out of the light housing ( per instructions from Oznium )

one Abyys light is as bright as the four light set up I was planning on.

Havent put them on the boat yet, but Im very glad I bought the abyss.

And yes they sell for about 225.oo each, so 200.00 per pair is still a good price.

I got mine for 160.00 shipped to florida.

We just finished developing and testing a water proof transom LED that has the same specs as the Abyss LED in this thread... It will be a better flat surface mount design and it will be thinner.. They will be available in mid October in Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and White for less than $100.00 each retail.

Ken,

Do you know how they will do in VERY muddy water?

I would love something like this, but our lake is so muddy. I figure it would be a waste of money...

Tim,

I'm not sure what these LED's look like in brackish or muddy water.. I don't think I would install underwater LEDs in muddy water: I would install LEDs within the interior of the boat in these conditions.

Tim,
I have 120 leds (yes, 120) on my transom facing out under the swim platform. If I go to Lake Geneva where it's clean they shoot out 25' easily. If I go to the Chain O' Lakes in Il where the water is root beer, they shoot back about 6" beyond the platform--total waste of time and money. If you boat exclusively on muddy water, spend your money for stereo equipment instead!!

How do the Abyss lights mount? is it just small holes for the screws and wires or a big hole for the whole thing to mount in?

Yep, 6 small holes drilled in the transom to install. Then run the wires to your dash switch & power. I tapped into a circuit the previous owner setup for all the interior LEDs. Then I used white silicone bathroom caulking in the holes as I screwed the lights in place. No leaks & works great.

Well, so far it looks like the eBay lady wins. I don't how in the world or where she gets them so cheap. They prices Abyss quoted me aren't even that low. I told him I could get them cheaper, he said he found it hard to believe I could get them at less than half price for a pair.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       09-09-2008, 2:31 PM Reply
Yeah Abyss is $210 each and she's $200 a pair shipped and like I said last time I got mine for $120 shipped. I don't know if she would be in for a group buy I'm sure she can only get so many in her coat when she leaves the plant.

It might be better to do a group buy when Ken get's his to market. What'ya say Ken?
Old     (bac)      Join Date: Feb 2008       09-09-2008, 2:41 PM Reply
HatenPain, the prices I got were wholesale prices, directly buying from them to resell, their wholesale price given to me, which I was told was standard, is still decently higher than what she sells them for. I'd say she's the best bet for now. I'm still trying to talk with him, because someone is getting them cheap from somewhere

I spoke to soon on the retail price.. We are finally starting to get our final numbers in, and our LED's will retail for about $149.99 each. I can do a one time group buy for everyone here at $99.99 including free shipping, but that is as cheap as it is going to get..
