I took a couple quick videos yesterday while towing with my F150. I tried for a 0-60 but pussed out around 50 and then another one from 30-50 which was about 31/32-55. Either way it gives a pretty good idea of the performance of our lesser motor

Set up:
2012 Ford F150 5.0, 3:73 rearend
2006 Sanger V215, SBT trailer

Impressive. It sounds so good.

Hate, if you were buying a screw FX4 for your own personal rig and to have for the next 5 or 10 years which would you buy? This is assuming using it as a commuter/tow rig.

do you drive it as your regular daily ride? i see 14.4 mpg and about 3400 miles. how has the mpg been. I have the ecoboost 2011 screw with 3.73 4x4 fx4, i love it, but i am always looking for comparisons thanks

I do but I get much better fuel economy than that, right around 17. My wife had been driving it and no matter what I put her in she manages the lowest possible fuel economy the vehicle gets

Brett, the easy answer for me is the Eco but I'm not so sure. I mean I'd pay $1000 less going with a 5.0 and then Ford has more rebats for 5.0 buyers, right now $1,500 which pays for a lot of gas. I don't tow a ton and when I do the 5.0 does a very good job, not as well as the Eco over the mountain but any other time they're pretty close. Daily driving I can't tell much of a difference and I only averaged 1mpg better with the Eco.

I love my 5.0. Towing a lot, mostly flat land, she does awesome.

Hate, are you getting 17 on regular streets or mainly highway? I've got a '12 FX4 SCREW as well and my mileage stays around 14.4. I drive mostly in the city though and don't get enough time on the highway to get it up in the good mileage range. I'm at 3,900 miles right now, so maybe it'll get better over time...

Hate, another question. If you were keeping your rig for 10+ years and were going to put 150-200k on it which motor do you think will have the better reliability or cost of ownership? Assuming you don't tow much over 5000-6000 pounds on some weekends in the summer.

Chance, I'm probably 75% highway and I really try to get good fuel econonmy. I'm mister 60 down the freeway and 60-65 seems to be the fuel economy wheel house on these guys. We have seen the Eco improve over time but usually around 1500+ miles is when it kicks in. The hard part about the Eco is not enjoying those turbos to much

Brett, I'd be totally comfortable with either for the long haul and thats not just salesman BS talk. I really believe the Eco was built to last and will do so. Obviously it has more potential for failure than the 5.0 but for me it wouldn't be a concern.

So I while driving today I asked my wife how she managed such poor fuel economy in the truck and she reminded me that I put ethanol in it which typically costs you roughly a third of your typical fuel economy. Sorry hun

That's great to hear Greg. Towing with such a big boat.

Pretty soon. We have them ordered and have VIN's. We have one that is slated to be here in roughly 4 weeks.
