What up Grant? I'll try to get your post started by saying hat the Pioneer 6x9's have been great for me. 100 watts to each and they rip. I was impressed with the Sanger that we saw on the water (Ear Damage) many may have seen it at Boardstock. That is the loudest ski/wakeboard boat I have ever heard. He was pushing the Eclipse 2 way 6x9's on the tower> very loud!

Bostons 200 watts 4 Ohms $200 a pair

Be careful with Bostons. Audition before you buy. Way too colorful for me. Not a real clean sounding speaker and mid range is too thick. They will play low though.

I've actually been lookin for some good 6x9s as well and I came across some MARINE MB Quart 2 or 3 way 6x9s. I called 3 of the local dealers in my area to go order or check the price and they didn't seem to know what i was talking about. The speakers are on MB Quart's website, but I'm thinkin they're pretty hard to get. Knowing MB Quart stuff, they can't sound bad.

For those on a budget I bought a few pairs of these to go in my tower box:

Pioneer TS-A6990R
Size: 6 x 9
Sensitivity: 93 dB
Frequency Response: 25-32,000 Hz
Recommended RMS Power: 120W
Peak Power Handling: 400W
Impedance: 4 ohms

The reviews on
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PIOTSA6990R
are good.

I'll be driving them of a crunch V4300 & V4200 amp, I will have them in a month or so, I'll give a review of there performance then.

Grant, just a little test to see if you could figure it out!

http://www.planetaudiousa.com/loudspeakers%20vortex.html

I have a very high end system in my car with the top of the line Planet Audio speakers and have been very happy with them. I have blown thru a few subs, but I just walk in the shop and they swap them out for new ones with no problems.

I have seen some installs with the 6x9's and everyone seems pretty happy with them, but I have not sound tested them myself. They definitely look good though.

I'll second Darren's recommendation of the TS-A 6990R's. They sound incredible and can be found very cheap. www.sounddomain.com and www.Etronics.com have great prices on them! I put two of these on my tower running about 100 watts to them and they kick out more bass than I ever imagined. Not to mention, they are 5 way speakers.

How much are you guys buying the Pioneer TS-A6990R's for?????
I recommend those speakers as well> very clean sounding.

I actually bought the TS-A6980R for $87.99 from thezeb. I got the slightly smaller model because I am running them in 2ohm with some TS-A1680R 6&1/2"'s and the outputs matched better.

They were cheaper to buy from etronics but I couldn't deal with them because of international issues.

If I remember correctly, the 6990R's were $79.95. Not bad considering they are $150 in any audio store.
