Can you clarify. SO if you sit idle in the water and just rev the engine to a steady 2000 rpm for example, the lights will go dim? There is only about a 2V increase between battery static and off-idle alternator output. I dont see this being an issue for a light that very well may be designed for up to 24V input. One thing I do know, is that quality underwater lights will often times have a reduced output mode if they get warm while on plane. A volt meter at the splice between the boat harness and light would tell a lot. I think youve got a voltage problem, not a defective light problem.
